  1. Well, I do hope top seeds can provide a quality match but I'm more eager to watch Sveta and Pome
  2. I have to say, GB have great filed of young and promising girls. I hope Konta's rise will inspire youngsters to do better. Swan and Christie are the ones to watch. From time to time there are flashes from Boulter, Dart. Dunne, Taylor (if any of them fulfills potential, it'll be great). And there are some younger with expectations. Will Robson ever return, I don't know. Also, another Russian wave probably is going to happen. Kasatkina is one of them and probably bearer. Blinkova, Kalinskaya, Vikhlyantseva, Komardina, Pervushina, Potapova, Zhuk... Would like to see Hungarian trio of Galfi, Bondar and Stollar doing well...
  3. Great tournament in Tampico, ITF $50,000, for young players. All quarterfinalists are 21 or younger. Mertens (1995) vs. Swan (1999) Flink (1996) vs. Arconada (1998) Rodriguez (1995) vs. Christie (1997) Podoroska (1997) vs. Zhuk (1999)
  4. Abigail Tere-Apisah from is into Bendigo ITF $50,000 semifinal! As a qualifier, she beat Yuki Christina Chiang (USA, qualifier) in first round and then surprised third seed Israeli Julia Glushko world #167, and just two years ago ranked #79, in three sets. She backed up this win with a win over young Australian Naiktha Bains. She is playing top seed, Japanese Risa Ozaki, for the place in the final. With this result Papuan girl is expected to enter top 450 on the WTA list!
  5. We have semifinals: Kerber vs. Radwanska Kuznetsova vs. Cibulkova I think Cibulkova can win her match. She already beat Sveta few weeks ago and fatigue can really cost Sveta this time. Kerber and Aga... well, curious one, Angie showed more so far. I'd bet on Angie
  6. Wow, I am really surprised with the high quality of FoM this time. Wonderful picks everyone
  7. Tuareg's desert blues is awesome Tinariwen and Songhoy Blues (both from Mali, though) come t my mind Good choice! I heard it few years ago Lovely I wanted to pick Jamaica but you were faster. My choice would be The Skatalites - Rock Fort Rock, outstanding instrumental, ska jazz/rock in one. The song you picked wonderful Excellent, excellent! I definitely agree There are at least 6-7 songs I would give 12 points any time. Epic, just epic song
  8. Sveta tops the white group no matter what, so we already have one semifinal pair, Kuznetsova vs. Cibulkova. Radwanska and Pliskova will determine the second semifinalist in direct clash. Should be interesting, but given how slow is the surface and how much Pliškova depends on serve and previous H2H, I'd say Aga should win this one. But one can never be sure with WTA these days
  9. Kerber tops the group with 3-0 score, Cibulkova is through as second placed with 1-2 score and 3-4 in sets.. Red Group final standing 1. KERBER w. 3-0, s. 6-1 2. CIBULKOVA w. 1-2, s. 3-4 3. HALEP w. 1-2, s. 2-4 4. KEYS w. 1-2, s. 2-4
  10. Hm, Cibulkova already beat Halep 2-0. Simona has no chances to advance to semifinal
  11. Ghana Marijata was a Ghanaian band, with the three members: Kofi "Electric" Addison - Guitar Bob Fischian - Organ Nat Osmanu - Guitar Marijata was a group of three members, Addison 'Electric' Kofi on guitar, Bob Fischian on the organ and Nat Osmanu also on guitar. Marijata were, according to their notes pockets, "attempting to bring some freshness and the return of Raw Funk" in their recordings. Their first LP: "This is Marijata", on the Gapophone label, is pure Funk Rawest Africa. Gapophone Records was a label founded by a young producer, Mr. George Appiah Prah, after his return from London where he lived for a period. Marijata has to his credit only two LPs on Gapophone but so essentialfor any collector of vinyl Afro Funk. Enjoy this wonderful jazzy funk piece from west Africa Marijata - No Condition Is Permanent
  12. Kerber-Keys to decide who is second semifinalist from the group. I'd like to see Cibulkova in semis, much better showing than Keys so far
  13. I lost all data, all spreadsheets so I am starting from zero. I will try my best to have results as soon as possible, but I cannot tell when at the moment. It will take some time. I am really sorry for this, but it is what it is. I won't organize any Prediction Contest until the end of the year; and for the next, I'll see by the end of this one; but most likely you'll need new manager(s). My sincere apologies.
  14. That's true. If Kuznetsova wins in Moscow she'll take last spot. And I'd love to see her in Singapore. The surface will suit her far more than to Konta who is much better on fast courts - therefore her chances in Zhuhai will be much, much higher. And someone has to give some match to Radwanska in that White Group What a year for WTA... No wonder we have such a field at Year End Championships.
  15. That would be original, and very bold pick for the TISC I am afraid. But heck, there are some wonderful country songs Portugal surprised me a lot with the choice for this edition. I expected something different On topic, my votes are in. Would love to see my top 2 finishing high. <3
  16. Will send in my votes in a day or two. Top four are a lock; around 10 songs are in option for the rest. Wondering will Italy ever treat us with italo disco (Clio-Faces on replay these days lol)
  17. New Zealand Entry Where to start with Chris Knox? He’s one hell of an entity. This is where we’ll start with Chris Knox: It’s impossible to imagine New Zealand cultural life without his contribution to it. Possibly the most important figure in New Zealand alternative/indie/post-punk rock, Chris Knox has been an integral figure of three of the country's more important rock bands (Tall Dwarfs, Toy Love, the Enemy), as well as recording prolifically as a solo artist. Some valuable excerpts: Additionally: http://www.trouserpress.com/entry.php?a=chris_knox New Zealand have decided to enter the song contest with one of the most beautiful love songs written by Chris Knox, unique Kiwi sound. Lyrically very touching with sublime guitar distortion, characteristic for Chris. Enjoy. Chris Knox - Not Given Lightly Label: Flying Nun Recorded: 1989 Lyrics Hello my friend It's morning, time to wake now Your body and mine entwined will have to break now I want your flesh, your warmth to stay beside me Oh, how I wish you could be deep inside me Show me your eyes, your love, most tender feeling And I'll give you mine, be truthful and revealing 'Cause it's you that I love And it's true that I love It's love not given lightly But I knew this was love And it's you that I love And it's more than what it might be When we're alone I cannot always face you Maybe my mood won't let these arms embrace you That doesn't mean my love's somehow diminished Give me the time to show our love's unfinished 'Cause it's you that I love And it's true that I love And it's love not given lightly But I knew this was love And it's you that I love And it's more than what it might be I need your body, your mind and your emotions Shed me your tears till I drown in your oceans 'Cause it's you that I love And it's true that I love It's love not given lightly But I knew this was love And it's you that I love And it's more than what it might be And every word I sing is true What can I say the words destroy all meaning There's only cliche to get across this feeling That it's you that I love And it's true that I love And it's love not given lightly But I knew this was love And it's you that I love And it's more than what it might be And every word I sing's for you 'Cause it's you that I love And it's true that I love And it's love not given lightly But I knew this was love And it's you that I love And it's more than what it might be This is a love song to John and Leisha's mother This isn't easy I might not write another But it's you that I love And it's true that I love And it's more than what it might be But I knew this was love And it's you that I love And it's love not given lightly 'Cause it's you that I love And it's true that I love And it's love not given lightly But I knew this was love And it's you that I love And it's more than what it might be
  18. Incredibly happy to see Kvitova winning P5/PM title for the 6th consecutive year! Her level of tennis this week was sublime. Everything clicked in the match with Angie, and the way she outplayed Halep was awe worthy. Well done Petra Curious about her stamina in Beijing. Would be a miracle if she snatches spot in Singapore, but given how awfully slow the surface is there, better to go for that Zhuhai title And great to see Khachanov's breakthrough!!! After Zverev, another youngster (though, not a teenager) with ATP title, second week in a row! Younger of Ymer brothers, Mikael had good run in Rome challenger. Curiously on clay, which is supposed to be his worst surface. Elias is better on clay but failed to beat Lamasine. Mmoh is into his first challenger final, another promising teen from USA. Few weeks ago we also witnessed to all-Korean final, my fave Duck-Hee Lee lost to two years older compatriot Hyeon Chung. Glad to see Chung won as well, after reaching top 60, he had really bad season. Hopefully this is a good sign.
  19. Well... I started to work on results. Volleyball should be up in few hours, then basketball... Hopefully by the end of the month we'll have everything up to date, including general standings.
