Although it could get complicated if a game gets rained off?
yes in that case, NRR would matter.

beat
Ireland beat
Everyone level on points
On the run rate tiebreaker it looks like this
Scotland +0.75
Zimbabwe 0
West Indies -0.27
Ireland -O.48
NRR would only matter to decide who goes in which Super 12 group. Winners of vs and vs would advance to the next stage.

Beating someone is wrong in any country, there is nothing worth defending. What I want to emphasize is that what makes it newsworthy. We don’t often see news someone pee on the street on NYT front page.
And it’s quite understandable that anti-China news is catching on western media. Actually the Hong Kong pro-democracy activist POUR alcohol and BURN a pro-China civilian on the street in Hong Kong with full image and video. So how is it newsworthy and how bad the behavior is?
1) Embassy staff are going to be held up to a higher level of scrutiny. We shouldn't expect them to behave in the same manner as us. If you or I pee on the street, it won't make the news but tomorrow if Biden/Xi/Modi/Putin do it, I am sure all will agree that it is newsworthy.
2) Media is biased. I find Western media's coverage of India highly racist and problematic. But, that doesn't mean that we have to attack them for any and everything.
3) Burning a civilian alive is bad. Irrespective of the political position of the victim and culprit.

Mass shootings are bad. Duh. There is a systemic problem with gun violence in USA and I don't think any one can say that media has not covered it. But that does not mean that if Diplomats beat random citizens in another country, it is not wrong. If Chinese embassy staff do it in London, it is wrong. If American embassy staff do it in Beijing, it is wrong. If Indian embassy staff do it in Islamabad, it is wrong (and trigger for nuclear war). I don't get why we need to go in the whole Western media, racism, bullshit to defend it?
P.S.: Fie on thee for making me defend Western Media on racism.

A man was beaten outside the Chinese consulate in UK, big news. 10 men was shot in US, enough is enough, no need to report.
Are you comparing Chinese embassy staff with deranged people who go on killing spree?

So far the advantage seems to lie with the team batting first.
I don't think we need to worry about that in Australia. Coin toss alone won't decide the winner of the match.

One of the polling organizations is predicting that Boris Johnson, the former Prime Minister, has a 94% chance of losing his seat in parliament at the next general election.
https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/fcgi-bin/seatdetails.py?seat=Uxbridge and South Ruislip
1) That is exactly what I am expecting: Conservative leaders losing even their seats. Labour party getting huge majority.
2) I would be surprised if Boris Johnson contests the next election.

Problem is that apart from Starmer, all the rest of Labour are Marxist loons, so I wouldn’t write off the Tories completely.
Wow, if Labour manages to lose the next election, they need to seriously introspect.

Ain't they all dead people walking at this stage anyway? Starmer appears to be a less polarising figure than Corbyn so all Labour needs is to lay low and watch Tory implode in the next two years?
And that is why Tories will try and delay the elections. The way they are imploding, it is not just a question of losing government, they could be looking at a historic wipeout in next elections.

Any blow to Russia is a good blow. I still find it extremely unlikely Putin will go towards the nuclear path, except for possibly a small-scale test in some remote area to show that he has nuclear weapons (which we all already know).
Are you suggesting that Putin will take a rational approach when facing total humiliation?

because of her history, because of what she's always said and because her party is the direct descendant of the original Fascist Party created by Mussolini (whose niece is one of the members of the current FdI), despite the many changes of name* they had after WWII (since then, the Fascist party was dissolved and its rebuild with that specific name is still illegal in Italy).
*nostalgic fans of Mussolini first created a party named Movimento Sociale Italiano (Dec 26th, 1946), which was basically the reborn Partito Fascista under a new name, despite they always denied any direct connection with it and its racist politics (they sold themselves just as a conservative political formation).
Then, in 1995, they changed name in Alleanza Nazionale...but they were still the same people that until the day before called themselves MSI.
Alleanza Nazionale finally closed down in 2009 (mainly because of internal fights and esconomical disputes, not because they decided that their ideas were wrong and out of time), but in 2012 the hardcore members of AN decided to build another party with the same target and ideology, named Fratelli d'Italia, which is still the name of the party.
In any case, the people leading the current FdI are all coming from the days of the old post-fascist parties, their ideas are well known and clear...there's no chance of misunderstanding what they think and what they want.
Thanks for the reply, once again let me reiterate that I am not suggesting that there is misunderstanding (I simply know nothing of the situation so am in no position to judge) but I want to understand the situation better. For example, what are the points on which these parties are rallying the voters? Which are the biggest red flags in their ideas?

Speaking of farcical referendums, this week saw Canadian citizens voting in Canada in a referendum asking for a separate state in India.
P.S.: I know that such referendums have taken place in past in different countries and Canadian government has reiterated that it doesn't give any importance to this referendum.

Good moment to point people's attention to the old, original Khmer empire (the one that brought forth stuff like Angkor Wat). Super interesting, Fall of Civilizations podcast has a very nice episode about it and I'm sure others do as well.
Seems interesting. Now following the pod and plan to give it a listen soon.

What do you exactly mean with national tracker?
If you remember for 2012 Olympics, we had this mega post at the beginning of the national thread which listed all events of the Olympics. In that we would list whether the nation in question has qualified or in contention for qualifying or out of qualification. Users can tweak the table and give links to individual sports qualification threads or qualification tournaments thread. And so on....
But I do remember it was a pain to create it and maintain it.
-
Great work on the new design. Really impressive that we have a major overhaul and the feeling is largely positive. Regarding the national trackers, is it time to bring back the 2012 national tracker? You, with help of others, could make the default one and then interested users can maintain their national trackers.

well I don't think so
1) after banning Russian athletes for no reason (I mean no sport-related reason) international federations are in no place to blame anybody for mixing sports with politics.
2) the guy was overweight (intentionally though) during the weight-in to get disqualified "legally", I mean there is no evidence , even if everybody knows the real reason but still no rules have been broken.
3) UWW needs Iran, as simple as that. (specially after losing Russia for nobody knows how long)
1) Fully agree.
2) Smart.
3) Fully agree.
