of course I watched the entire Euro but obviously I can't remember every single match. :d (just checked the results and see what happened between them)

but nah Greco is not like that. it's not like freestyle. it's mostly about one moment, one mistake. age is not in Sahakyan's favor but he has the technic and quality to score big points if the opportunity presents itself

I do not believe this, but it is a nice suprise. (and could be bigger)

He failed before Tokyo - it was big dissapointment for Poland. He end his career and he now is close to OG - sport is funny sometimes.

:BRA Judo announced ten judokas for the Paris Games:

    66kg- Willian Lima

    73kg- Daniel Cargnin

    81kg- Guilherme Schimidt

    90kg- Rafael Macedo

    100kg- Leonardo Gonçalves

    +100kg- Rafael Silva

    52kg- Larissa Pimenta

    57kg- Rafaela Silva

    78kg- Mayra Aguiar

    +78kg- Beatriz Souza

Cargnin, Macedo, Rafael Silva and Aguiar are back after Tokyo. 4th Olympics for Rafael Silva and Aguiar (who won the bronze medal in each of the three previous Games). Somewhat strange that they announced Rafaela Silva already given how close Jessica Lima was to her in the rankings, but I guess that being an Olympic champion played a big part in this choice.

For me Silva should wait longer, She is not in good shape as Lima.

Judo switches can go through pretty much instantaneously if the federations agree. It was the same situation for Acelya Toprak when she switched from GBR to AZE towards the end of last year. any change would still need to be ratified by the IOC I think but that's unlikely to be a problem.

Poland must ask Japan for a few Judo players. For me, a year should be the minimum. It can be overused. Or set the same for different disciplines.

the :NED federation has given Kim Polling permission to immediately switch to :ITA :yikes:

she's married to Andrea Regis (former player and now IJF official)

let's hope that the Italian burocracy doesn't make any damage

she would cover the very important -70kg class for us, which means that we could have a very competitive squad in team event, too

How on earth it is possible to represent Italy in Paris? Some athlete must wait so long - and one weak she was dutch, now she is italian? Crazy

oh, man...how far away the times of "Pollicino" Maenza (or even Minguzzi) are!

but can she get a minimum while she was competing for another country and transfer to Poland? And her change of nationality needs to be approved on the june (or july?) EC-IOC meeting right?

    1. Yes, it's valid (like Tsimanouskaya - we have this kind of experiance).

    2. She can start with our nationality abroad since 20 june (but she must be approved as you said but via WA meeting

Then her mandatory waiting period to represent her new country ends

The next step will be the decision of the special World Athletics panel responsible for changing the national colors. We don't know when he'll get back together. Of course, we will lobby on this matter and we will do everything to ensure that Maria can start in the Polish Championships at the end of June. If this is handled smoothly, we will see her at the Olympics in Paris. She already has the minimum - explains Tomasz Majewski, vice-president of the Polish Athletics Association and head of the Olympic mission.

Also so many of Georgiadou's rivals and also other notable fencers from other weapons commented on the posts, and many people are saying FIE should give her a wildcard, and that the system is unfair, and I approximately half of these people asking for wildcards are not even Greeks, so it's not just the case of "biased fans"

many great sailors / judokas and other athletes could say something like this, because has only 1 place per NOC.

If I read that correctly, (and by read it, I mean Google translated it correctly) there is budget allocated by central government for cycling as elite sport and applications for support can be submitted and approved by the minister.

Does that mean that the Polish track cycling team applied for financial support and were rejected?

    https://sport.tvp.pl/76615471/polacy-ni ... -pieniedzy

Still is a huge problem to give that money.

President Makowski emphasized that so far there have been no talks between union representatives and the Minister of Sport, Sławomir Nitras, and the dialogue takes place via the media. He also noted that only on March 22, on the occasion of the 100th day of the government, the ministry presented a program to support bicycle riding, which shows that the recruitment of applications for its implementation lasts until March 29, and the decision will be made by April 5. So a week before the track team leaves for Canada

    – This is the time when plane tickets and hotels should have been paid for long ago. I don't know if we can make it happen. We are looking for other possibilities, Makowski mentioned.

Referring to Minister Nitras' statement that PZKol activists should "get their shit together", Makowski replied: - We don't need to be additionally motivated. We only needed a little help in obtaining ministerial funds to finance elite national staff.

Most probably he will not get to paris. The reason why he attend world cup is merely OG defending champion Xie Siyi is not eligible to compete due to the absence of last season. The selection of China squad is mostly finished. Wang Zongyuan and Xie siyi will compete individual event. Wang and Long will compete synchro.

Do you know more about China selection?

You could cross-out Grigor Dimitrov from the list, as his ego is bigger, than the Olympics.

I had abandoned tennis as a sport, where we could have a participant, but the recent good results of Viki Tomova have put her in the top 70. Still lots of tournaments to go and tennis rankings are very up and down, when you are after top 30-40, but i would be really happy for her, if she manages to sneak a quota.

She has a great chance https://www.openerarankings.com/WTAHome?RankDate=01-04-2024&Race=6 she is already in qualify position
