  1. I was kind of hoping they would just give him the tripartite quota like they did for Cara Black back in 2008.
  2. It took a while for the picture to load so I was surprised to see the coach (I assume) as the main photo. Other nations tend to use the players in the photo
  3. The Davis/BJK rules are more suggestions and an easy out for players that don't want to participate at the Olympics without looking bad. If the player really wants to and their NOC agrees the ITF won't prevent them from competing.
  4. We likely won't get an official announcement for the singles or doubles for a few more weeks. We'll have to rely on the NOCs to give us the information.
  5. Plus there's bound to be some players who will outright decline to play at the Olympics. I imagine given the venue the withdraw rate will be similar to 2012 than 2016 or 2020 (though unlike 2012 no ranking points will be available), but I do expect a few players to not play.
  6. Looks like is going to get the women's tripartite quota according to this news report. No word on the men's quota, but Wikipedia has listed (probably my choice too).
  7. The United States will very likely take part in cricket. I mean, your other post pretty much sums it up, cricket really wants the United States to take it seriously. Besides, I'd argue the United States is relatively better in cricket than they are in handball.
  8. I wonder if we develop a bit more maybe we could sneak into the 2028 Olympics. The West Indies will be split up into its individual countries and thus weaker. It might still be a huge ask, but that could add onto what could be a record team sport turnout for Canada
  9. Glad we were able to get the win. As I mentioned before, we were doing quite well against the United States until the collapse which could be due to the inexperience of the group. I hope the national team can keep its funding until the 2028 Olympics.
  10. Even an 8-team tournament doesn't fully showcase the unique blend of countries cricket can offer. In such a format, you'll have the usual suspects and likely as competing nations in 2028.
  11. It depends on how close they are to the max athlete quota
  12. No disrespect to Kovinic, but the women's singles tripartite quota had a lot of competition, here's who is currently in the top 400 (there's no ranking limit for tripartite quota, but it's used for the ITF places): 230. Lina Gjorcheska 241. Kathinka von Deichmann 276. Victoria Jimenez 351. Francesca Curmi 371. Sada Nahimana
  13. Duda/Ana Patricia were already mathematically qualified so Brazil will have two pairs
  14. Check the first post, pretty much everything outside of athletics/swimming is a tripartite chance. Of course, some are more likely than others. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of the nations with tripartite chances won't get anything.
  15. The continental quotas takes priority. So Zhang and Monteiro will keep their Asian/Pan American quotas.
  16. Going into the final month, we are down to our final 30 nations. Here's the breakdown of qualification possibility. May qualify normally (some have better chances than others) May qualify with a tripartite invitation Must rely on athletics/swimming universality
  17. We don't want to be losing winnable sets. It likely wouldn't have mattered against South Korea, but it might if the Netherlands defeat the United States and Serbia while we lose to Italy and Japan.
  18. As sad as it is for Canada, I really hope this doesn't kill the high level of the sport in Samoa.
  19. By the end of week 2. leads by 2.21 points. Canada has a tougher set in week 3 ( vs. ), but the match between the two nations will go a long way to determine who goes to the Olympics. Every set matters
  20. To be fair, 2020 was a high year for Canada. Even if we fail to qualify volleyball (a 50/50 chance IMO), we'll have a similar size to 2016 (which was also a high mark). I'm hoping Rowing Canada figures itself out.
  21. Squash went under the radar which is why it was surprising it got included. The other chosen sports made it quite well known they were trying hard to get included
  22. That's how it ended, but for a while it looked as if Canada would win by 40 runs. Then it all fell apart.
  23. Typically a 195 is a good score in T20 and we were on pace for an easy win. Then after the 8th over it all came crashing down. The pressure was too much for them. Again we weren't expected to do much, but it is heart breaking to see them lose this way.
  24. The Men's T20 World Cup begins today. With v I guess they wanted the United States to start off with a win . Still, I'm glad Canada was able to qualify, even if we are going to be the weakest team in the tournament.
