    There's no doubt about doping, but the other countries are more doubtful. Communist countries also had better facilities, better coaching, better youth development etc etc. And also they were Communist countries, so everyone wanted to get out, and being a world class athlete was the easiest way to do it.

    Don't know much about it, but my father travelled the world with his work, and he said that Venezuela was the best place he'd ever been. That was 50s-70s. It's a hellhole now.
