  5. Someone on the Athletics Weekly board found this very useful page - it is a list of all the Wavelight magical disco timing lights for the meet tonight! As you can see, going for the WR in the W1000m , M3000m SC but just the MR in the M800m. . Also a special set of guys waving flags for various French NRs. Monaco Diamond League | Wavelight Technologies

  10. Got the full entrylist for the European U-23s from Bergen next weekend. Some big names involved. https://www.european-athletics.com/home/news/final-entries-published-for-bergen-2025-european-athletics-u23-championships
  11. Going to have our first breakaway win - Ben Healey the early contender with 30km to go. Looks like he has it, pursuers not making an impact. MvdP will be back into yellow again as he is the best rider in the break.
  12. Funny thing is that there seems to be a different Italian national team, this time consisting of Asian ex-pats and playing in the European T10 competitions,
  13. There's another announcement on the home page that they are raising prize money for the Winter Races, so whether one is to do with the other..... Attendance at the Summer Worlds had always been very patchy, none of the big west European nations ever sent a proper team, although sometimes individuals went. Slavic & Baltic nations generally were the backbone. Again, maybe there has been some agreement on that. Stadium events are good for the profile of the sport, but only a small number of established names can take part. There were lots of cases where athletes got their first win at the Summers and then went on to get more later that year.
  14. I suppose so, but this is the first time I remember it happening. Usually there are squad selection races in most countries and always a Summer World Championship at least, even in an Olympic season.
  15. More info here, including vital mascot update - Ola the Orca Killer Whale, a species which errrmmm... fulfils a vital ecological niche by keeping the Islands' population of ultra-cute baby seals in check. Also in small pieces. Orkney Island Games: Everything you need to know - BBC News
  16. Just having a quick look round for Summer Biathlon this year, and it seems we're a bit short. No World Championships & no FourcadeFest from France. August 6-9 Blink Festival Norway, usually on NRK October 18-19 Stadium event from Munich on Biathlon World etc Anything else?
  17. Pogačar 15 secs up at First Intermediate Oi oi not over yet as Evenepoel puts in a burst on the second leg. Evenepoel posts big lead at the clubhouse & so we wait. Vauquelin now guaranteed the most annoying intrusive media attention.
  18. Big friendly match in Edinburgh this evening - Hibernian v Rot Weiss Essen, marking the 70th anniversary of the first ever European Cup in 1955, when Hibs won 5-1 on aggregate. Plenty of fans enjoying a sunny day in Edinburgh just now.
  19. Oscar Onley into White! 2027 Tour will very likely pass through his home town - it's one of the very regular venues on Scottish stages of world class races.
  20. More messy sprinting & crashes, but Merlier just gets Milan on the line.
  21. Saturday: River Seine in Paris is open for public swimming for the first time since 1923! Sunday: River Seine in Paris is closed for public swimming because of....umm....errr.....well.....you know.....the usual reasons. River Seine closed to swimmers one day after historic opening
