  1. I miss the days we where 0-2. Team Homan is about to become the biggest failure in Canadian Olympic history.
  2. At this point I think we can forget about a medal in women's curling. Rachel Homan and her team are playing possibly the worst curling of their career... Canada is the only winless team in the tournament, and Homan is playing like she wants to be 0-9.
  3. Hanyu is coming back from injury and it wasn't clear how in form he would be.
  4. This is setting up an amazing four way race for the medals. Also really happy to see Patrick make the last group, even though a medal is obviously not realistic I hope to see skate clean(ish, it's still Patrick) tomorrow. Top 6 would be a great result given the season he's had.
  5. Can I pick five potential winners?
  6. It’s not like Yun is a nobody, he was ranked first in the world cup this season...
  7. It's probably the easiest one to learn of the three sliding sports. Though, honestly, Yun has quite the talent for it. He would have won on a neutral track given his form.
  8. ...on the bright side, Martins Dukurs didn't get denied by the home favorite and Thomas Dukurs didn't finish forth for a third time in a row. So yay for Latvia?
  9. Unrelated, but if you're a Dutch speed skater reading this, I hear Calgary is a wonderful training base
  10. Bergsma is 32, Bloemen is 31. That's not *that* old for distance skaters, Both of them can stay around for another quad if they feel like it. That being said, neither of them have anything left to prove, so who knows. I don't follow Bergsma too closely, but Bloemen seems to be having the time of his live right now so I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him go for another Olympics.
  11. Technically Ted-Jan Bloemen isn't naturalized, he was entitled to citizenship by ancestry... because his dad happened to be born in Canada... because his grandparents happened to work in Canada while his dad was born. But, ya know, he's not naturalized, just a Canadian citizen by luck
  12. Huh, reminds me of a certain home track gold medalist. Maybe Yun is going to host Amazing Race Korea?
  13. Meaningless? Gotta extend the winning streak to 23 games
  14. Home track advantage is always huge in sliding sports. Not really a shock to see Yun do so well, considering that at this point he's arguably the best in the world on a neutral track anyway.
  15. I would actually really like the IOC to organize some sort of mind sport Olympics specifically for things like chess, go and e sports. Would need to work on the branding, but you could also include a bunch of "skill" sports like cue sports, darts and bowling that wouldn't feel at home in the Summer Olympics. But as to the original topic: the IOC can't ignore e sports, but I don't think they really belong in the Summer Olympics either.
  16. I am still really in Sion's corner, I think Switzerland is super overdue to host another winter games (...and I really want to see Olympic sliding sports at St. Moritz in my lifetime), but at this point any Western European or Scandinavian country hosting would do the IOC a world of good. ...though if Calgary wins, eh, won't be mad.
  17. ...Anice Das is going to win just to **** with our heads.
  18. I don’t think Red cares that much about Big Air now that he won in Slopestyle tbh xD
  19. I love the indignation from Sjinke, he’a a great skater but he seems to have a rather... agressive personality xD
  20. Can’t really blame them for taking a “training run” here considering there is no guarantee there will be another one before the downhill.
  21. I unironically love watching downhill specialists do slalom. So many crashes
  22. He’s in the mix.
  23. Yes. Which is why as the week goes on they will be more and more willing to hold the races in bad weather.
  24. Yes. The accomplishments he has on the world cup circuit is just on another level.
  25. I am so relieved for Mikael Kingsbury, I wasn’t sure what the ridiculous amount of presure would do to him. Now that he has Olympic gold there is really no argument he is the best mogul skier ever.
