  1. They sure would! Just need to list them as an alternate (max is two alternates). Isn't it just great how consistent the rules are re: who gets medals and who is allowed to stand on the podium (lol @ swimming and athletics where some of the medal winning athletes aren't allowed to be on the podium) from sport to sport?
  2. Lol, Switzerland could have handed someone a free gold medal (they only had one alternate).
  3. Too bad, I actually think Canada had a good shot at a medal. Too bad we had the seeding has no relation to the actual team event...
  4. At least he already has a medal. Really happy for Seb, him bring the third best Canadian really shows the depth we had in this event.
  5. They should really have times qualifications to decide the bracket.
  6. Hot take: Great Britain beating the USA isn’t an upset considering the lineup.
  7. Gold for Sébastien Toutant, silver for Kyle Mack, bronze for Billy Morgan. Third best Canadian wins it, first ever freestyle snowboarding gold medal for Canada. Really happy for Toutant, he’s had an amazing and long career (so far) and I’m glad he finally has an Olympic medal.
  8. has won the first men’s big air, just a question of which one.
  9. I mean, they are the two most important sports to Canada. I't's hard not to feel disappointed despite the extremely good results in freestyle and figure skating, plus the historic achievements of the luge team. Other than that I feel every other sport either underperformed, did as expected or had disappointments that kind of overshadow the extremely good results (mainly figure skating and short track). It really doesn't feel like out best Olympics (I still think that's Vancouver), even though we've won more medals than ever, though it's certainly been our best Olympics ever in a couple of sports.
  10. Thank god it’s over for , it’s been incredibly painful to watch curling these Olympics.
  11. Tough free skate for Isadora, but she did very very well to make the free skate. This is actually a pretty good result, hopefully she doesn't disappear for four years only to show up randomly in Germany in August 2021.
  12. Are they showing the women's 1000m and the men's relay on repeat, too?
  13. Kelsey Serwa, if nothing else, really overperforms at the Olympics. Fifth in Vancouver, second in Sochi, first in Pyeongchang. That's pretty impressive. Really happy for her, though honestly would have been fine with either Smith or Naslund. I feel really bad for Naslund actually, bad time to have the worst result of her season
  14. Curling Canada has to be thanking every god in the universe for mixed doubles having been included in the Olympics...
  15. These Olympics have been a complete debacle in Curling for Canada. Can't believe the mixed doubles pair is the only team to actually win...
  16. The streak ends at 24. Fair play to the US, they completely outplayed Canada in overtime.
  17. Lol André Myheer is oven older than Mario Matt was in 2014 O.o
  18. Just hot the press: despite rumors of her retirement, Kaillie Humphries has confirmed she plans to be at the Beijing 2022 games. She is also planing on lobbying hard for the women's four-man event to be included.
  19. Gasser deserves it. She’s been the best women’s big air competitor in the short history of the sport and it’s not close.
  20. Sandra is definitively still the favourite, but I think a lot of people are overestimating her chances.
  21. The Canadians in general are really doing well. 1-2-3 in qualifying with all the big guns down.
  22. Zagitova is out of this world technically but god is she a bore to watch. I really hole Medvedeva pulls it out.
  23. This is obviously a disapointing performance from Germany. Belarus was able to beat Sweden in regulation, Germany was so weak they required overtime. Sweden is a really easy opponent to play in the quarterfinals when they win their group so really the game should have been a walkover. The fact the game went to overtime is really emblematic of how terrible German sthletes have been during these Olympics. More seriously, what is up with Sweden at the Olympics? They won their group in 2002, 2010, 2014 and 2018 (first seed iverall after the group phase in every one of those years except 2010 where they where the second seed). It’s strange how Swedish teams seem to gell really quickly then fall apart later. Bold prediction: Canada is going to get at least a silver medal in men’s hockey.
