  1. Don’t remind me about the judging in 2014, I’ve watched Sage’s run more than a dozen time and I still don’t understand what the judges saw in it. At least this time I think you can make a solid argument they got it right (I need to rewatch the runs, but I doubt I’ll come to the conclusion that Red’s win was unreasonable).
  2. Very unhappy about both the judging and the runs. This is an event a Canadian should have won. Very disapointing.
  3. Ya, Red isn’t some unknown. He’s done very well over the last year.
  4. I don’t see Australia failing to medal. New Zealand’s best chances haven’t come yet.
  5. I think it’s a pretty disappointing result for Canada. Parot in particular underperformed, and neither Toutant nor Nicholson could get a run together. Honestly any of the four Canadians could have done a better run than Gerard on this course, but they failed to do so. I don’t think having silver and bronze is disappointing, but losing gold to anyone but Kleveland is a big disapointment.
  6. At least this won’t be as controvertial as Kostenburg’s win, but still seems a bit generous. That being said Red is a good rider, he won’t be another one hit wonder.
  7. Man the alpine skiing events are going to be stupidly compressed.
  8. High wind. Tomorow’s downhill training run for the combined is also canceled. Likely won’t be run until Tuesday.
  9. Patrick is probably going to do both, my guess is that they will seitch pairs and women’s. That being said even if Chan has a disaster skate the worst he can score is 6. The gold medal is probably going to be more or less decided by the time he’s on the ice.
  10. Not a great day for Canada, with the exception of Sam Edney being fifth in luge after two runs, the mixed doubles curling team being on fire and all four Canadians making the finals in slopestyle (the slopestyle course, incidentally, is amazing). The men’s 1500m short track was a bit of a farce, ice is always bad at the Olympics though (since it’s shared with figure skating). The women’s 3000m was probably the best event of the day in terms of entertainment.
  11. Kind of funny how this, of all skates, is likely what will maje him Olympic champion...
  12. It’s very much a case of two world class players who aren’t really a good team. That being said they are both so good individually that they are probably the favourites.
  13. This is more how I expected them to play. John Moriss in particular is incredible when he’s on. Their big problem is that they started playing mixed doubles together like two weeks ago xD
  14. Wow, China accidentally blanks the eight end! This is huge since it means Korea is going to have hammer in ninth.
  15. Official in the Canada - US game placed the wrong stone in the house before the 7th end xD Only got caught after Becca played her first rock (luckily they caught it before either rocks got hit)
  16. Okay Korean fans, that was an appropriate shot to cheer for xD
  17. Huh, official site says the same thing. Assuming they all enter: Kamil Stoch Richard Freitag Andreas Wellinger Daniel-Andre Tande Johann Andre Forfang Robert Johansson Stefan Kraft Junshiro Kobayashi Anders Fannemel Dawid Kubacki
  18. I think he invented a whole new level of casualness.
  19. Looks like this course is suiting Manuel Osborne-Paradis pretty well, which I'm not shocked about (since it's kind of a downhill - Super-G hybrid). He's still a long shot but eh, who knows. The venue looks nice but the course itself is completely toothless.
  20. Number of stones per end (5 vs 8), the pre positioned stones, number of ends (8 vs 10). Pace of play is also much brisker in doubles.
