  1. This was a much better contest than in 2014, despite the undisputed best women's slopestyle athlete in the world out injured. Good to see the sport progressing.
  2. Is this the best Olympic alpine skiing race in history in terms of drama?
  3. I figured Ledecka was the Czech Republic's last and best chance... but not in the Super G xD
  4. If someone takes it from Weirather I'll be really upset.
  5. You really can't compare slopestyle scores from one contest to another. It's very much scored on a curve.
  6. Gold medal favorite Maggie Voisin made the finals by 0.2 points, the smallest possible increment O.o
  7. Women's ski slopestyle was really frustrating, both Kim Lamarre and Dara Howell fell on their last jump, both on runs otherwise good enough to qualify. Only Yuki Tsubata will be in the finals.
  8. ...is literally any of this not public record already?
  9. They are the defending Canadian, world and trials champions. I'm not sure what happened to them. But they are just gifting teams games right now. It's to bad we can't just substitute an entire team mid tournament.
  10. I miss the days we where 0-2. Team Homan is about to become the biggest failure in Canadian Olympic history.
  11. At this point I think we can forget about a medal in women's curling. Rachel Homan and her team are playing possibly the worst curling of their career... Canada is the only winless team in the tournament, and Homan is playing like she wants to be 0-9.
  12. Hanyu is coming back from injury and it wasn't clear how in form he would be.
  13. This is setting up an amazing four way race for the medals. Also really happy to see Patrick make the last group, even though a medal is obviously not realistic I hope to see skate clean(ish, it's still Patrick) tomorrow. Top 6 would be a great result given the season he's had.
  14. It’s not like Yun is a nobody, he was ranked first in the world cup this season...
  15. It's probably the easiest one to learn of the three sliding sports. Though, honestly, Yun has quite the talent for it. He would have won on a neutral track given his form.
  16. ...on the bright side, Martins Dukurs didn't get denied by the home favorite and Thomas Dukurs didn't finish forth for a third time in a row. So yay for Latvia?
  17. Unrelated, but if you're a Dutch speed skater reading this, I hear Calgary is a wonderful training base
  18. Bergsma is 32, Bloemen is 31. That's not *that* old for distance skaters, Both of them can stay around for another quad if they feel like it. That being said, neither of them have anything left to prove, so who knows. I don't follow Bergsma too closely, but Bloemen seems to be having the time of his live right now so I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him go for another Olympics.
  19. Technically Ted-Jan Bloemen isn't naturalized, he was entitled to citizenship by ancestry... because his dad happened to be born in Canada... because his grandparents happened to work in Canada while his dad was born. But, ya know, he's not naturalized, just a Canadian citizen by luck
  20. Huh, reminds me of a certain home track gold medalist. Maybe Yun is going to host Amazing Race Korea?
  21. Meaningless? Gotta extend the winning streak to 23 games
  22. Home track advantage is always huge in sliding sports. Not really a shock to see Yun do so well, considering that at this point he's arguably the best in the world on a neutral track anyway.
