  1. Why are these idiots going for 3s?
  2. Well the Canadians have finally discovered driving to the rim. Maybe that will help, since they are something lime 4/22 from 3…
  3. These Canadian players are chocking hard.
  4. How do they expect young gymnasts to gain international experience if they don’t select them? I think the US has pretty clearly demonstrated that if an athlete does well at a high pressure trial they are ready even if they have no international experience.
  5. I feel like the current way P athletes work in individual sports make a lot more sense than in team sports. They are on site anyway, there is no reason to not let them substitute in and out.
  6. I kind of think the “alternates count” in team sports should be a permanent change tbh. They can still travel at the cost of the NCO / not be hosted in the village, but not considering them Olympians and not allowing them to compete just to artificially lowering the number of athletes is just petty.
  7. Apparently the cost to Basketball Canada was around 3m USD.
  8. Lots of love in the brotherhood of the Commonwealth as you see.
  9. is out! and will decide a quota amongst themselves.
  10. Definitively feels like London permanently changed the way the « look of the games » is done. Different venues having different colour schemes has been done ever since.
  11. I really hope they stop testing for marijuana by 2024.
  12. It honestly seems like they had no clue what to do in this situation.
  13. The Canadian men’s team is extremely young. They could be really big medal threats in Paris.
  14. Diving Olympic trials: Nathan Zsombor-Murray and Rylan Wiens qualified in the men’s 10m while Celina Toth qualified in the women’s 10m. Canada will have ten divers total (4 men, 6 women). Full team: Cédric Fofana (men’s individual springboard) Nathan Zsombor-Murray (men’s individual and synchronized platform) Rylan Wiens (men’s individual platform) Vincent Riendeau (men’s synchronized platform) Jennifer Abel (women’s individual and synchronized springboard) Pamela Ware (women’s individual springboard) Mélissa Citrini-Beaulieu (women’s synchronized springboard) Meaghan Benfeito (women’s individual and synchronized platform) Celina Toth (women’s individual platform) Caeli McKay (women’s synchronized platform)
  15. Also the size of the soccer team is likely to expand by four (all alternates will be included) per the AP. https://apnews.com/article/international-olympic-committee-international-soccer-soccer-olympic-games-2020-tokyo-olympics-f13246c9c7e38b1ad0e1b93ffd80ea45
  16. It is being reported that Football teams will have 22 players instead of the usual 18. This is still to be confirmed. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/summer/soccer/ioc-to-expand-soccer-rosters-to-22-for-olympics-1.6086532
  17. No clue. When Australia won a court case because the FIBT interpreted their own qualification document wrong before the 2010 Olympics they got an extra spot, so that’s a possibility.
  18. I do think the decision is pretty fact specific - you can’t create a qualification system where you denny an athlete the chance to qualify because of a pregnancy that happened three years before the qualification system was published.
  19. Tennis’ qualification system does have accommodations for injured athletes and I actually think that’s mostly a good thing.
  20. I didn’t bother with athletes who’s parents or grandparents are from another country because I don’t have all day :P But ya, Pospisil’s parents are both refugees from .
  21. My people (I have both and citizenships, too)
  22.
