  1. is now officially eliminated, after going 2-0 day one. are in the quarterfinals.
  2. I think you wrote the obituary of this 3x3 team a little too early.
  3. SwimSwam is reporting that this is likely the fastest time a U15 swimmer has ever swam in the event. She also has the standard for the 1500m, and will try to get the standard for the 800m this week-end.
  4. Woah, beat O.o The Poles did not play very well but still a little surprising that the Mongolians were able to take advantage.
  5. Ya. I actually think the 3x3 idea itself is a cool idea, but the way the sport is organized right now is just a joke.
  6. That actually seem like a pretty cool format. Not sure how well it works to have men and women climb the same boulder, but the idea of having the pair collaborate to solve the problem is really neat.
  7. Now I understand why the Canadian team is reluctant to score.
  8. It's a good thing there is no relegation this year, because this Canadian team could realistically finish last in their group...
  9. I think surfing and skateboarding deserve a little more respect around these parts tbh. I get that they aren't everybody's cup of tea, but those are sports that managed to build long lasting and consistently high quality International competition circuits with no real support from NOCs or the IOC. Those are sports that are doing fine without the Olympics. I'm sure the Olympics will help them grow, but I think the IOC would be crazy to not include them. That's also how I feel about tennis and golf in the Olympics. Are the Olympics the apex of those sports? No. Is it better for the Olympics to have the PGA and the ATP/WTA as partners rather than as competitors? Absolutely.
  10. To the players it isn't as important as the Stanley Cup, but the Olympics is by far the most important International tournament. To the general public, especially more casual fans? The Olympics is the biggest thing in ice hockey. Literally half of Canadians watched the 2010 finals, it's the most watched television event in the country's history. In fact six of the ten most watched television broadcast in Canadian history are Olympic ice hockey matches. Only one NHL game is in the top 10.
  11. As a complete neutral who does not care about the "sanctity" of Eurovision one bit, I would love to see San Marino win just for the hilarity of a. Flo Rida being a Eurovision winner and b. because next year's Eurovision being hosted in San Marino. That being said, IMO France clearly had the best song.
  12. Congrats for making your Olmypic debut in Curling!
  13. Mexico is not eligible for tripartite places.
  14. will face the for the final Olympic quota on offer. Quarterfinals are - and - . and are qualified for the semifinals. and are relegated. The relegation playoffs are - and - . The following teams are eliminated but qualified for the 2022 World Championships:
  15. qualified for the 7th place playoff. is relegated, while and “qualified” for the relegation playoffs. is also guaranteed relegation in the other group.
  16. Would be quite funny if the ROT had both refugees *from* Iran and refugees *to* Iran :P
  17. Changing the qualification rules *after* the competition was held? That seems like a bit of a joke.
  18. I think was extremely lucky that their first game was against . Canada played a terrible game and was barely able to escape with a win because Spain was, well, not very good. Canada has been a lot better since then, and looked quite good against Hungary in particular, but it could very easily have been a huge blunder to start.
  19. I mean the whole thing has been sort of a joke from top to bottom anyway, pandemic or not. I will say that given the results we have seen at the qualifiers that have been held the BTF’s world ranking is, to be charitable, bad.
  20. remain undefeated, now at 3-0, in group A. and are 2-1, and are 1-2 while are 3-0.
  21. At the very least it's something that should be addressed going forward - Tennis for example allows players who went on pregnancy leave to enter tournaments (including the Olympics) based on their previous ranking. If you are going to have a world ranking that is used as the main / only way to qualify for major events it really has to be able to take things like injuries and pregnancy leave into account.
  22. It really begs the question of why they aren't holding the games in Greater Poland :P
  23. To me this really highlight how good of a job South Korea did getting their team ready for 2018.
  24. If Dick Pound says it then it’s safe for me to book my vacation time.
  25. The worlds in Kigali would be great.
