  1. I don't know if we have any Thailand users, but their King (Bhumibol Adulyadej) has died. He was the world's longest reigning monarch, in power since 1946 (even earlier than Queen Elizabeth II).
  2. Expected win from our national team but I never thought it would be this easy Good match from our team, nice to see young Andre Silva scoring 3 goals
  3. I hope they don't make any surprise on their next game and stay with 4 points
  4. That goal is still remembered here as one of the luckiest moment in Portugal sporting history!! Thanks to Iceland we avoided the "stronger" path and managed to get to the final without playing against Italy/Spain/Germany
  5. António Guterres has been elected as new UN General Secretary
  6. This "Nations league" reminds me of Hockey World League (of Field Hockey). It's an interesting idea, but the Euro qualifiers got too confuse with this...
  7. Though loosing in Napolis was no surprise (Napoli is the big team in this group), I certainly wasn't expecting to see Benfica with a 4-0 score at 60 minute!
  8. I saw no Futsal news on TV this morning, I wondered "why?", but after looking for the semi-finals result I understand ( 2 - 5 ) Congrats to Argentina!
  9. As expected, Slimani always scores to Porto Porto right now is not a Champions League team, it would fit better on Europa League, so it's no surprise this defeat
  10. Well, I watched this World Championships to watch Climbing for the first time. I must say I was a bit sceptical for this sport but in the end, I found it really interesting!! (specially Bouldering) So interesting that made me go and look for Climbing walls here in Lisbon!
  11. PORTUGAL Ok so for the first time Portugal will send a non-Portuguese speaking song to a Totallympics Song Contest!! It's a risky move as well, this is very different from the traditional portuguese songs that I've shown you before, and I admit this is a music genre that is not that popular as others, but the truth is that this is a big and very famous band here in my country, so I want to show them to everyone here!! Moonspell - Scorpion Flower
  12. Just heard this on the news, Portugal is in the semi-final!! Portugal is 7th in ranking so I would guess that achieving top-4 is already pretty awesome!
  13. Is there any team that doesn't have Brazilian players on their squad? (ironically, the "real" Brazil is already out )
  14. Terrible, terrible news,,, They're even saying that he may never walk again....
  15. Btw, I'm not a usual fan of Futsal (wasn't even aware of the World Cup until I saw it here in Totallympics ), but there is one thing I remember watching that got me really impressed, and that I think it's worth of sharing with you all: a superb goal from one of our players, Ricardinho
  16. So without Brazil and Italy, who's the favourite now? Spain?
  17. wow, had no Idea this song was from mexicans! Always learning in this forum
  18. Yay, glad to know Portugal won! But costa rica probably wouldn't be that much of a strong opponent, no? I'm curious about where can this Portuguese team go
  19. Historic moment for Portugal!! I'm not sure, has our girls ever went to a playoff before?? Awesome!!
  20. He was an ex-Benfica player, and he was really loved there (because he was a great player, and because they sold him to Chelsea by 25 Million euro )
  21. Good! I'm really happy to hear that! That's my main interest on this contest: no matter if Portuguese's song get's 0 or 100 points, if at least I get to show a bit of my country to someone else that can enjoy it, thats awesome!
  22. Precisely my feelings I try to compare with some portuguese medalists that were born in other countries (Obikwelu, silver in 2004 100m, born in Nigeria but living in Portugal since 1994; or Nelson Evora, gold in 2008 triple jump, from cape verde, but in Portugal since he was 5), who you can see they really are proud on representing Portugal, and they are inspiration to people here. So I think: "if those guys were only 'tranfered' to Portuguese team, would I be proud? What would be the feeling of going out there and saying 'hell yeah, we did it! Portugal!!!' ?"
  23. hahaha, i understand Coincidentially, I'm actually undecided between a Portuguese speaking vs English speaking song for this contest The past contests Portugal (which, so far, unfortunately, it's just me ) sent two songs in portuguese, with very tipical and traditional sounds and instruments, because I wanted to show everyone my countries song (even if it wouldn't get any points). This year I'm thinking of showing a band that has nothing about traditional, but it's very well known here, and I think would be great to show them to the world (even if no one likes it ). But i'm still undecided! (and hoping for a new portuguese user to appear to help me on choosing )
  24. Actually, from my top 3 in this year's annual contest, two were in english and the other was half english/half native (the algerian one). Not because of the language, just because I enjoyed listening to the songs. I honestly don't really care if it's in english or arabic or spanish, I just like the idea of finding new music from around the world
  25. Yeah I have nothing against having other nation's athletes playing for other national team if they're really into the nation they're representing, I was just wondering if on Italy's "brazilian team" they were there because of money or if because of really wanting to represent Italy. Now I'm wondering if Portugal has also an "international" team...
