  1. Yes I'm cheering for them as well but can't speak it too loud, last time I did here they ended without the gold
  2. Yes i know but I think it's good to show those events at the olympics to try to call for new athletes, and with more people trying the sport, maybe the competition level grows with it
  3. That's what I heard. Don't think that as bad news though, because they will replace it with the women's C1 to improve gender equality.
  4. so this is the olympic "goodbye" for c2 right? in a few minutes we'll see the last olympic champion in this event!
  5. wow Argentina and Mexico are out, what a surprise... Now the real Olympics begin for Portugal, Germany will be a totally diferent level....
  6. hahahahaha I always laugh with that guy (which I also wanted to win Gold and got eliminated so maybe I should start cheering for the ones I don't want to win )
  7. Great race by José Carvalho! Everyone didn't expect him to do more than the heats, and here he is in the final Congrats to Slovakia, I'm watching the final and you're Benus did an amazing race, I'm confident you'll get the first gold today!
  8. It feels like Gold! P.S- She's the reason I started watching and liking Judo, more than 10 years ago
  9. Just came here to say that i'm really proud of our João Sousa, who faced a way stronger Del Potro knowing there would be few chances to go ahead, but still was able to win a Set and to loose by 3-6;6-1;3-6. Proud of him! Great work!
  10. HEEEELLLL YEAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Bronze medal!!!!!!! WE HAVE A MEDAL!!!!! For all you that are from countries that usually get a lot of medals, this sounds like overreaction, but Portugal had 23 medals in 23 olympic editions (previous to Rio), so you can do the math and see how much a medal means for my nation!!! Our social media is going crazy!!! And it's Telma, who's a 5 time EC and always missed the medals on Olympics, so she was the one everyone was really cheering, she totally deserve this!!!! My medal's goal is achieved, from now on it will be (an amazing) bonus!
  11. Rio 2016: Controlled explosion carried out near Olympic road race finish line by anti-bomb squad
  12. You can say Portugal arrived two times at Rio yesterday, first in Caravelas during the show: And after it during the Parade, where the athletes went mad with the awesome crowd reaction!
  13. "He always believed in sex success" what a hell was he trying to say there???
  14. Yes! Our athlete's words: "We want the world to know who the Euro champions are!"
  15. This could be an amazing moment, the first time Portugal will be announced in Portuguese! But.... our country's name is the same in every language hahaha
  16. It suck as a Portuguese that my country is always at the bottom of the parade in every language
  17. Great ceremony so far! I liked how for the first time ever, Portuguese took part on an opening ceremony of an Olympic Games! (Even if it's because we invaded Brazil )
  18. Rio 2016: Moroccan boxer Hassan Saada arrested over rape charges one day before Olympic fight What the hell was he thinking???
  19. @OlympicIRL For me it would be this one, from Sydney 2000, "Dare to Dream". I was young back then, 13 years old, it was the first olympics I ever seen, and seeing recently freed East Timor receiving standing ovation, the Koreas standing together in the parades, and all the ceremony with this kind of motivational and peace songs, I ended up really believing in the Olympic spirit!!
  20. Bad luck? Bad luck for Porto! Worst opponent possible... looks that my team will have to start thinking about Europa League this year...
  21. So I don't know if this is the right thread to put this, but I saw this funny image (maybe we should have a thread for funny images of the olympics no? )
  22. Yeah I know but I saw the flags and I remember the feeling here in the 90s and the images I saw from back then, and now seeing the two nations together in the same building is something really great and a true olympic moment
  23. You know, back in the later 90's we really absolutely despise/hate Indonesia because of the Timor-Leste invasion and the slaughter of the Timorenses. We filled our windows with white flags, popular musicians made songs for Timor, and I believe that when we organized the Universal Expo in 98 we didn't even had an Indonesian pavillion. The hate was so strong that in Sydney 2000 (which was also the first games where Timor was allowed to compete, although with the Olympic flag) our commentators clearly cheered against indonesia in EVERY sport. Now I believe the hate is gone
