  1. Actually I enjoyed this year's contest. It's just a music contest with an opening ceremony showing the host's country plus the "emotion" of having the classifications changes while the votes are being presented. Just that, nothing more. Anything that the host decides to do (logo, special features on the opening ceremony, special designed board, anything else) is extra, very well apreciable - aparently almost everyone here has work/study/something really important to do in real life, so I had to be a jerk not to give value to someone who tries to make anything extra for the contest -, but just and only an extra!! And I'm not s*** up neither I think anyone is, this is a sport forum, I don't think people here need each other approvals on their real life.
  2. Well I always see this kind of awards as very ambiguous, just like saying that one player is better than another one (for example some prefer Messi, others Ronaldo, others Neymar, etc). Pepe had a truly hero performance during the Euro, but Ronaldo did an awesome work in the Championship League and was really important for our national team Euro title... Nevertheless what matters is that he got the award, and that it's another award for him and for Portugal
  3. 2 portuguese on top 10, 3 on top 15 (btw, what are those points based on? there's a HUGE difference between Ronaldo and Messi here! )
  4. So we are getting close to Christmas Holidays, and I want to share with you a Portuguese theme from the early 90's that got so popular that nowadays everyone sings it at this time of the year. (I'm sharing here because I would never send this as a TISC entry, but I would like to show it anyways ) As a curiosity fact, when there are football matches between any of our 3 big teams (Benfica, Porto, Sporting) during this time of the year (from mid-November to December's 25th), the winning team fans sing this song to their rivals to provoke them
  5. What? Weren't you cheering for the Colombian team? (I assume your team is the rival of Atletico Nacional no? hehe )
  6. The winner of 2016 Ballon D'Or is.... Cristiano Ronaldo!!!! It's the 4th in his career, and he is the best portuguese football player ever!
  7. Is your team Arsenal? That's one team I was hoping to avoid for Porto, they always humiliate Porto with 4-0, 5-0, 6-0 (btw a curiosity, you don't have a favourite Serbian team? )
  8. The draw for the Last 16 is out!! Difficult challenges for Portuguese teams, it could have been worst (Barcelona would probably be the strongest opponent) but Dortmund and Juventus...... Really really strong teams....
  9. 2017 is right ahead and Guine Bissau has already their official theme to support their nation at CAN (African Nation's Cup):
  10. Mixed feeling for portuguese teams on this last day of Champions League Group phase - Sporting lost with Legia and is (to my surprise) out of European Competitions - Fc Porto smashed Leicester with a 5-0 win and qualifies to next phase
  11. What a lucky day for Benfica yesterday at Champions League! They lost with Napoli 1-2, so they would be out of the Champions League if Besiktas had won to Dynamo Kiev, but Besiktas lost 0-6!!!!
  12. Is it the birthday of just the republic, or the birthday of Finland as an independent country? Anyway, congrats!
  13. Just like @ahjfcshfghb said, she was born on Ukraine but is in Portugal since she was 3 years old, when her family moved to Braga. Victoria Kaminskayais also born in the Eastern Europe - Russia - and moved here while she was still a child. (we have many immigrants from Ukraine and Russia here )
  14. Looks like the same team we're probably going to send to the Winter Olympic Games!!
  15. Portugal is sending 8 swimmers! As an "irrelevant" swimming nation, our federation wants to take this opportunity to give more swimmers a full world-class experience Women's Tamila Holub Victoria Kaminskaya Diana Durães Men's Diogo Carvalho Alexis Santos Gabriel Lopes João Vital Miguel Nascimento My expectations are to see at least some of them at the top 16, and a great performance would be all of them at top 16.
  16. Sorry to change the topic (actually, not that much sorry, the discussion is getting nowhere but to insults ) but.... I'm really surprised that land-locked Serbia has a beach! (yes I know it's a river beach but still I got surprised, I still have a lot to learn about balcan area sights ) And I looked for photos on google, it really looks nice! (is this one right?)
  17. I agree with you, although I always try to be careful with my opinion on that because I live in somewhere - Portugal - where I don't face immigration problems like the ones that people from central Europe talk about.... In fact, most of our immigrants are Brazilians, with the same culture - and religion - as ours, so we don't experience the culture shock that I guess it exists in other European countries. I usually tend to think we should help more those refugees instead of just letting them die, but I wonder if I would think different if I lived in those countries (hope not...)
  18. Probably.... (to answer your question) Extreme politics end up being dangerous either if their from left or right I would say...
  19. I still feel bad for them because of the 2010's match where we won 7-0.... When the match ended I got happy but also worried for the life of the players.... (and also for Portuguese's Pizza Hut, who had a promotion that offered a free pizza slice for each Portugal's goal at the World Cup matches..... a lot of pizza was eaten that day, and they never repeated that promotion ever since )
  20. Let's hope they don't end like in 2011 World Cup
  21. But you have border control no? Serbia is not part of EU neither part of Schengen area right? So one could not travel from Greece to Serbia like from Portugal to Spain (with no control), or not?
  22. So, why don't Serbia close the borders on immigrants as well? (this is not a provocative question, is a really question, I really wonder why Austria and Hungary close their borders because of the excessing immigrants, but Serbia didn't)
