  1. you need to leave out of the tourist madness area. Out of it, away from the british drunks, it's actually pretty nice p.s - thanks for the 12 points! I've been using your voting messages as way of training the dutch haha
  2. yay we got points! Thanks to both slovenia and tunisia
  3. Been in Veluwe to cycle a couple of times but mainly on the Arnhem area, in Hoge veluwe or veluwezoom, really nice places to explore
  4. I hope it’s this weekend, as coincidentally I’m traveling to Portugal so I can at least follow the competition from the country I was born haha
  5. In a house from a friend of mine they put a list with all the names and door numbers of the exported Jews that used to live on his building... very impressive, specially for someone from a country that (luckily) was far enough from Germany and managed to escape the horrors of Second World War
  6. Also, when is the final gonna take place after all? I'm fine with any date, just to know which was the final decision in the end.
  7. Well, still can't reveal the points for the song contest, but Portuguese jury is for sure going to award at least 10 points to this year's drama novel! Can't wait for the upcoming plot twists during the points announcements (i'm just hoping the one writing it is not George R. R. Martin )
  8. Yap, agree. It’s not the first time we have the final in later months compared to this one (I remember like 2 or 3 years ago it was in early June), so I’m fine with waiting until the organizer has/finds the right needed conditions.
  9. I hope it's true. Last year was indeed amazing, we got to go to the sea 3 or 4 times, which is amazing haha (the year before I think we only went one time). At first was a bit sad - as portuguese i'm used to go 3 or 4 times to the sea... in April haha - but now i really learned to give proper value to sunny warm weather You need to get a terrace or an upper floor place for the NY eve in Amsterdam, then you can more easily appreciate the amazing madness of warfare fireworks all around
  10. I live in Amsterdam, can't skip King's Day, it's just not allowed Although is nice not to have the contest this weekend. It's good weather here right now and wouldn't like to waste away Summer, the best 4 days of the year
  11. Sad that Porto got away (but honestly, against Liverpool, no changes haha). But Ajax.... what a match, and what amazing feeling to watch this team play! I watched the game in mid of Amsterdam and the celebration and happiness was awesome, I'm really crossing fingers to get to see Amsterdam in the second european final in only three years! P.S - The last one was for Europe League, and they lost (against Man Utd) but still they celebrated and it was really cool vibe. Dont really know what to expect if they get to play in Champions League final!
  12. Feel a bit bad for Atletico though, they have a really nice team
  13. Really happy with this champions league week, both teams i like went through (Porto because it's my team, Ajax because Amsterdam ) Also the match on Tuesday was really amazing from ajax kids in Bernabeu, really good football
  14. Portugal So I spent the last weeks listening to portuguese online radio and to music from past year. Unfortunately there is not much music I can "like" or that i think is worth sharing like on past years. This is the best I could find, so here it is:
  15. is in! At least for now... as you know i don't live in PT anymore so the anual edition might be a challenge.... I'll look for stuff about last year's songs in portuguese radios and if I find something interesting, I'll officially join the contest!
  16. Black friday madness, in Portugal, with proper soundtrack as background
  17. You know you're settled in a new country when you start celebrating their goals and victories!!! I did it for two main reasons: 1- Didn't want France to advance and have the change to play against Portugal in a UEFA competition final.... in Portugal.... (i bet they want revenge, so better not to risk it hahaha) 2- A possible Portugal vs Netherlands is always interesting since I live here (even if it ends tragically like the last match Anyway, great to know that Portugal will take part (and organize!) of another final phase of a UEFA competition
  18. Sorry! I really like Brazil - and the song of last year between the Brazilian singers and the Portuguese one - , but your songs never manage to get in my top 12 I’m sure that would change with a song from Caetano Veloso haha
  19. Thanks to everyone who voted for the Portuguese song, it’s great to know that so many liked a song that is so traditionally Portuguese! ending in top 10 and with 100 points it’s really great!
  20. Here’s a very useful and nice short guide to this amazing Sinterklaas season
  21. I have to admit that from all the crazy things related to Sinterklaas season that I found in the Netherlands, kruidnoten was the last thing I was expecting someone to ask my opinion about But yes, I like it! Only thing I despise is the dropjes, certainly created by some evil mastermind that chose to disguise the most hideous thing ever as candies
  22. Funny how the best results are with "partnerships" with singers from our brothers from the ex-colonies (Brazil and Cabo Verde)
  23. How on earth did within temptation an Mother Earth only got 18th place???
  24. Seattle? Nice! Two years ago I did a road trip from NY to San Francisco and one of the cities we sadly missed was precisely Seattle, so I'm glad I'll be able to visit it this time!!
