  1. It's not official, in every news article the list of nominated athletes in all sports so far is also updated and divers aren't named yet: https://parigi2024.coni.it/it/news/continental-tour-gold-jacobs-ed-ali-fanno-la-storia-nei-100-metri-e-conquistano-i-pass-individuali-per-parigi-2024.html But Tocci-Marsaglia and Pellacani-Bertocchi in both individual and synchro should be safe, the only doubt is about Larsen
  2. 43 years (and 11 months) old Embrich wins the individual title... it might be a record for the European championships.
  3. Goalkeeper up on a corner kick in the first match of the group in a tournament where goal difference is crucial to advance with 3 points...very smart move.
  4. It's not only a tapering problem...It's enough to hold the Euros earlier as usual (usually May in Olympic years, sometimes even earlier), I don't know why they are so late this time, they clash with Olympic selection meets (check the previous page) of top countries. Holding Euros regularly after the Olympics is not a great move for exposure, most people get tired of watching after the big event (+ the football club season starts).
  5. Posthumous quota What a gallant gesture, Mr. Bach
  6. Always happens with exotic countries. At least they didn't write that he was a medal favorite.
  7. Meaning that Group A: Group B: Group C Pot 2: Pot 3: Pot 4: draw on June 19, in Bangkok, Thailand, at 18:00 local time (11:00 GMT)
  8. Indeed there's not a chance that cricket will grow here outside of the (quite seclusive) Indian-Italian and Pakistani-Italian bubbles, even if they get to the World Cup or whatever. i'd prefer them starting to practice other sports tbh.
  9. Again, let's check women's 62kg and 68kg reallocations for Tokyo 2020. The situation was the same and the rules were the same. They didn't apply the "cascade" reallocation procedure or the outcome would have been different. Of course I'd prefer Chamizo getting the quota, but let's not have wrong expectations, he's almost certainly out.
  10. Yes, they are clear. The only hope for Chamizo was the reallocation of the Belarus quota won at the European tournament. But now we know that there's an eligible guy from Belarus.
  11. Not at all. The rules are the same. This was for Tokyo. I stand by my opinion: AZE is qualified, quota should go to CHN as the highest ranked at the WCh that is not yet qualified (just like USA was qualified so the quota went to ROU).
  12. I get why people think it will be reallocated to Chamizo (WCh quota to AZE and then European quota to ITA), but after reading a bit I think it will simply go to the Chinese, as the highest ranked at the WCh who is not yet qualified. The wording imo is quite clear and the same that was used for 2020(1), where for example the reallocation in women's 62kg went directly to ROU (and not to USA who had later won a PanAmerican quota, and thus the next best PanAm wrestler).
  13. If they (NED) don't qualify for VNL finals, they have some more time to heal and rest for the Olympics.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if Italy tied AUS/USA on day 1 - 5,5 medals in these events if we go by latest World Championships (a half because a bronze in fencing - there are 2 bronzes at WCh but only 1 at the Olympics). It should be a strong start as usual, hopefully with a less noticeable drop in the second half of the Games.

  16. Pichardo is justy salty and embarassing...I heard from interviews of another jumper that the Cubans are always arguing at every competition. There's highlights on Youtube and looking at the white board and the structure behind it, it's quite clear that Diaz Fortun's jump was longer than Pichardo's 18,04. And saying that the measurement is a scam because Diaz Fortun celebrated early is truly next level...he celebrated for other attempts too, it's not too difficult to understand when a jump is good.
  17. It's a simple top list for relays. heywoodu is right: who ran it first gets the priority.
  18. You mean that guy in the picture is not Jokic?
  19. It's already at least a 5cm difference, starting from more or less 5,85m until the gold medal is decided, even at 6,05 - 6,10 - 6,15; they can just keep the same progression. A smaller difference is not deemed significant enough to decide a world/olympic champion even at those heights.
  20. "Gold crown" for best athlete in jumping events is worth 50000 euros, but he only needs 6,10m to get the prize. So Mr. Duplantis's winning height will be somewhere between 6,10 and 6,24m to maximize his earnings. World Athletics could easily change the rules of the event forcing to only jump 6,10 - 6,15 - 6,20 - 6,25 - .... and make it more serious but having a world record factory is good for marketing to non sports fan.
