  1. Stano injured after stepping on a bottle thrown by someone else, so goodbye to the 2nd team for Italy, and maybe 2 big Olympic medal chances, individual and relay, already gone.
  2. July Ranking. After the zonal championships.
  3. Who and in which tv channel and language?
  4. Don't think UEFA will do it in the near future, they've been having early games for years in the group stage and the EL and most probably they estimated that the loss of audience they'd face for the 2 games starting in the afternoon would be greater than the number of people watching both games for 2 days in a row.
  5. don't know, you need to contact them
  6. Nope, you have to pay them to get details of a country.
  7. they clearly named it like that to get media attention...it's not even an "Olympic qualification championship" but it sounds better than "event similar to a world cup with Olympic quotas at stake" .
  8. Folie with her physical issues would have been useless anyway in tournaments where you play many games in a short period of time and with a small roster.
  9. The Portuguese, yes. The rest, not so much.
  10. This 59 years old federation president from competing? Nice. 3 points per arrow average so far.
  11. She's been living in Italy for years (at least 7 when EU citizens only need 4 consecutive years of residency) + married and had a daughter with an Italian (which should cut in half the waiting period), I'd be surprised if she didn't already go through all the paperwork. Especially considering that her instagram post suggests she also need it for her post-judo life. This nationality switch is way more authentic than all those fake refugees, if the Dutch federation has accepted to waive the waiting period I see no problem.
  12. why didn't you consider in the previous post?
  13. They can enter in the team event but from that moment the replaced athlete cannot fence anymore. They are "Ap athletes" who are not counted as Olympians, a trick used by the IOC in many sports to mantain the facade of respecting the limit of 10500 total athletes. If I remember correctly they are not entitled to free accomodation in the Olympic village, probably NOCs pay for them or something like that.
  14. All these complaints but what if next time Italy/France etc. fails to qualify a team and the 2nd Italian/French fencer takes the spot from the 1st Greek or similar...in the above mentioned case for Rio 2016, a Swiss won the European QT, if the 2nd Italian, Navarria, had been allowed to take part there's a good chance she would have taken the spot. i bet that then that fencer would complain that the system hurts smaller fencing nations. Fencers and NFs knew that similar cases of top fencers missing the Games have happened and could have happened again, but noone in the last years made a reasonable proposal to change the qualification system- the only one that gained some support by other smaller countries was Sweden with their idiotic proposal of limiting team competition to 4 teams and individual competition to 1 fencer per NOC (and even the IOC said that proposal was shitty). In that case, a lot more of cases like the one of Georgiadou would happen. A small curiosity: the FIE Interim President and head of the working group in charge of proposing changes to the Olympic qualification system is Greek.
  15. No way. It's clearly stated that unused tripartite quotas go to the highest ranked eligible fencers.
  16. With Arnautovic up front they would have probably scored 2 goals instead of 6.
  17. The number of unused Universality Places - it could also be zero if the tripartite commission accepts very low level fencers and assigns all 8 spots.
  18. Kuwait has already one fencer qualified in sabre, will they still be considered in epee/foil? I guess having no women competing lower their chances. Also, will participation in the Zonal QT be taken into account? for example has a decently placed woman in epee but haven't entered her so far for the tournament, while they did enter a couple fencers in other weapons.
  19. First part of the qualification is over, now we'll have: 1) Zonal Qualification tournaments in April - this will bring the total to 34 athletes per individual event; 2) since France won't need to use any host quota place, 8 Universality Places decided by the Tripartite Commission. That's a lot of places, especially considering that the few decent fencers from eligible countries could be qualified on their own by then; 3) reallocation of unused Universality Places: "if the Tripartite Commission is not able to allocate Universality Place(s), such unallocated Place(s) will be attributed by the FIE to the next highest-ranked eligible athlete in the Individual Senior Adjusted Official Ranking (AOR) as of 1 April 2024, across all weapon and all FIE Zones, but strictly respecting the following: - The maximum number of athletes in each individual event (37) and - The NOC must not have any athlete already qualified in the corresponding individual event " The following would be the first fencers in line for such reallocations - of course some of them will likely qualify first through their Zonal QT
  20. I think you are a bit overestimating her...she missed team and individual qualification in 2016 and 2021, this was probably her last chance to be an Olympian and she went from having a decent but not huge chance to qualify for GER to a certain one in the easiest zone.
  21. M sabre: + Bazadze, Szabo, Ferjani, Yoshida, Alshamlan, Di Tella
  22. Should be over for epee. Qualified: W epee + Kong, Kun, Moellhausen, Differt, Ndolo, Yoshimura M epee + Freilich, Wang, Loyola Rodriguez, Kim Jaewon, Elkord
  23. Loyola tied Beran in the Olympic ranking at 76 points but Beran is ahead beacause he has a win. So Loyola has to hope for a team qualification tomorrow in order to grab the 2nd European individual quota.
  24. Summary for this weekend according to my, I hope correct, calculations. Men's sabre: -Qualified: -Battling for the European quota: v . Germany's last chance is to win and hope Italy finish 4th or worse. -Battling for the Asian quota: v . Japan need to win (with Iran finishing 3rd or worse) or to finish 2nd (with iran 7th or worse). Women's epee: -Qualified: -Battling for the European quota***: v . Estonia's only chance is winning with Ukraine finishing 6th or worse. -Battling for the Asian quota: v . China need to finish in top 4, or finish 5th (with HKG 11th or worse). *** but if USA win, this might (also depending on POL and FRA's results) become the American quota and go to Men's epee: -Qualified: -Battling for the Asian quota: v . Korea need to win, or finish 2nd (with KAZ 6th or worse) -Battling for the European quota****: v v v . A big mess, anyway to have a chance GER must finish at least 2nd, ESP at least 3rd, CZE at least 6th. **** but if KAZ win and JPN also kick HUN out of the top4, this would become the Asian quota, so both KAZ and KOR would qualify
