Katie VINCENT / Sloan MACKENZIE: 4th in the heat, 4th in SF, one spot out of Final A (no B final) Overall, a lot of promising performances, in particular the men's K-4 team, which essentially got 17 years younger (substituting in Laurent Laurent LAVIGNE for Mark De Jong from Tokyo). Slightly disappointing result for Connor Fitzpatrick, was expecting him to make Final A. The women's canoeing team has a good future, but needs to develop to fight for medals consistently. The men's K-2 Men 500 that finished in 10th also looked promising.
  2. And they finished fourth ... lol Canada's favourite number in sport!
  3. Argentina (who lost to Canada) just allowed England to score to eliminate Canada. So much for fair play at the WC stop in France.
  4. Thanks! Where do you rank them in terms of worldwide competition? Do you think these two can help a Canadian team qualify for Paris at the 2022 FEI Eventing World Championships?
  5. Canada won nine medals at Futures Cup last weekend. The Canadians swept the podium in the men’s 10 m event. Blainville’s Benjamin Tessier earned himself the gold with a score of 500.35. Rylan Wiens, of Saskatoon, finished second overall with 453.54, just ahead of Matt Cullen (439.30), of Rosemere. So that is three men over 500 points in the 10m individual event in the last year Matt Cullen and Benjamin Tessier then earned silver in the synchronized event, thanks to a score of 406.92, which is higher than the score Vincent Riendeau and Nathan Zsombor-Murray had at the 2020 Olympics. Mia Vallée triumphed in the women’s 3 m event. The Kirkland native totalled 345.80 points, a personal record. This would have been a bronze medal performance in Tokyo!. Alberta’s Margo Erlam, the defending Canadian champion in this event, took home bronze with 309.40 points. Vallée and Erlam also teamed up for the 3 m synchro event, where they won gold with a score of 305.70., would have been bronze in Tokyo.
  6. Eleanor Harvey won her third medal of 2021-2022, finishing 2nd to Olympic champion Lee Keifer of the USA at the Grand Prix in Incheon Korea this weekend She is now ranked 3rd in the world.

  8. Colleen Loach finished in second at a meet in Tyron, USA: https://sirc.ca/news/canadians-deliver-strong-performances-in-4-eventing-action-at-tryon-international-spring-3-day-event/ Not too familiar with the sport, so maybe @dcrocan help expand on how this result ranks.
  9. Tammara Thibeault won gold! And Charlie Cavanagh won Silver (she looked good in the first 2 mins, but then was dominated the rest of the way). Cavanagh is still young and should develop. The other who competed (Scarlett Delgado and Priyanka Dhillon) lost to eventual medalists in their events. Thibeault and Delgado are guaranteed the Commonwealth Games, and at least two men will be named to the team, leaving two slots open. Cavanagh is not guaranteed a spot according to the qualification system, as events until April are looked at. Would be a travesty if she is not sent.
  10. Stephanie Barrett and Eric Peters qualified for the mixed team bronze medal match at the World Cup stop in Korea
  11. Current Olympic champions Sweden and Scotland have seen their respective junior teams relegated at the World Juniors. This sport keeps getting unpredictable! At one point Latvia was leading the women's event.
  12. Canada finishes the tournament with one gold and one silver, and a top 3 ranking, not bad!

  15. Yea 1 of the Canadians (Charlie Cavanagh) was only a bronze medalist at the Continental championships, so to win a Silver at the Worlds just two months later, doesn't seem to add up.

  17. After two races, the USA is well on the way to earning the first sailing quota for the Games in the lighting event. No other nation is close.
  18. The women are at serious danger of being relegated to the B division...unbelievable Curling Canada needs to fire everyone in a leadership position.
