  1. No Olympic Games for Madrid, and probably this tournament will be his retirement. He always has been his own worse enemy.
  2. Thank you So all 3 Mexican guys still in contention for Olympic ranking points
  3. What’s the rule fir qualification to the final? Best 36 scores? Top 12 in each heat?
  4. It’s postponed, yet not cancelled as of last week. But I’m guessing it eventually be scrapped
  5. Not as elaborated as my first pick, but my thoughts on 2nd draw: Women’s With just one quota left, I think Silva should progress to semifinals to meet once more Argüelles from . The winner of this match should in principle meet Fonseca from Cuba for the spot in Tokyo, but in anycase these will be too close to call matches. Men’s Two very contested places will be played and honestly, after seeing the performances so far, it will be an open call. Nevertheless, in the upper half Miño has the favored spot and should beat veteran ‘s Campos, who is turn will be looking to avenge his defeat to Afanador. The lower hald is more likely to get messy, and top ranked Madrid from Mexico and Aguirre from Paraguay might suffer an early exit, given chance to Wu from Chinese Santo Domingo or Gaston Alto to book the last berth for this summer.
  6. Iran is missing 5 wrestling quotas
  7. My predictions for Singles Draw One. According to tournament's system, the winners of the semifinals will qualify, so I'll analize the draw in upper and lower halfs Women Singles Upper Half Melanie Díaz is top seed in the tournament, and should be the clear favorite as the draw favored her and should not have any problems to reach the decissive match. However, she's not even half as good as her sister and as such, could falter in that step. But who could beat her? My pick for an upset comes not only from Daniela Ortega, who on paper is her main rival but lost the latest match between her and the "boricua", but from one of the potential dark horses: Daniela Fonseca. Pick: Ortega or Fonseca over Diaz. Lower Half Paulina Vega is the main contender here, but before she reaches the final match she will have to overcome either Paula Medina or Eva Brito. While she has won over the later, the former has a more balanced record in their direct duels, and even the Colombian is not atop her game, an upset is possible. Vega's rival for the Olympic quota will be more of an enigma, but the Chilean player should benefit from any of her possible challengers having to give it all to reach the final match. However, veteran Yadira Silva hasn't lost a match against any other women in this part of the draw (except Vega, yet Silva leads their direct duels 8-2), and should book her 4th ticket for the Olympics. Pick: Silva over Vega. Men Singles Upper Half 's Marcelo Aguirre is poised to be one of the four qualifiers, as he's currently the best ranked non Brazilian player in the region. However, in his path he'll likely meet two veterans, Cuban Jorge Campos & Argentina's Gaston Alto, both of whom have parity in their direct encounters with Aguirre. Aguirre's rival for the Olympic ticket will be either Madrid or Afanador, in one of the greatest rivalries in the Central American & Caribbean region, with the former winning the last direct match between them and in better shape as of this rather short season. Pick: Aguirre over Afanador. Lower Half This side will have Horacio Cifuentes as the main rival. Like Melanie Diaz, he really doesn't have any real threat in his way to the decissive match, unless Cuban Andy Pereira could provide another shocker, although that is very unlikely However he should consider that very much like him, Alberto Miño will hardly be tested by his rivals, and not only the late has an overall 5-1 advantage over the former, but Pick: Miño over Cifuentes.
  8. Mexican Federation offered IOC's Task Force to replace Argentina as host, with the event being held in Guadalajara.
  9. I’ll post my predictions later tonight. As @intoronto said, ‘s Aguirre is a favorite in men’s, but this is probably one of the most contested tournaments. let me take a look at the first draws and could let you all know my thoughts.
  10. Well I feel like my only chance for a swap with any of my teammates is @Hipooo if he’s willing we’ll switch.
  11. Mexico Here you take a look at the proposals for the Opening Ceremony uniforms. If you like, you can take a better look at the designs & cast your vote here
  13. In principle it could be easier. But Baseball team is there by a real miracle that I think won't repeat itself. They will most likely beat the US Jewish Community, but can't see them progress Softball has qualified on pure merits and I'm proud they will manage to put a fierce competition, but if only with some luck on their side they will fight for bronze against the Aussies.
  14. 0-3 medals for Mexico, none of them gold like in Rio. Most likely to succed: Tae kwon do, Diving, Football Outside chance: Archery, Athletics, Gymnastics (artistic)
  15. Xiamen Marathon & Tuscany Camp Global Elite Race Siena (ITA) 11 APR 2021 Men's Marathon Khalid CHOUKOUD 2:09:55 Tomas Hilifa RAINHOLD 2:10:24 Roman FOSTI 2:10:46 Women's Marathon Rosa CHACHA 2:28:17 Irvette VAN ZYL 2:28:40 Daniela TORRES 2:28:55 Immaculate CHEMUTAI 2:29:09 Majida MAAYOUF 2:29:24
  16. Is I recall correctly from the Olympic reports, gymnastics and fencing started reducing the number of competing teams in the 70's. Tennis draws after reintroduction were limited in the single & double draws for a maximum Apart from wrestling, I think also archery & boxing had qualifications for Atlanta. I think that he first edition in which every sport had their number of competitors capped by a qualification system was Athens.
  17. And one of the most enthusiastic among the Argentinian delegation at Guadalajara 2011 PanAm Games. I remember chatting with her and a couple other athletes during Men's Hockey final, and then she along same companions plus some others, were really partying after the Closing Ceremony.
  18. Well, like I've said, it was an afternoon well spent, down memory lane and the GIF button @Quasit thanks for your work, I'll need to have a third run after I hope many others have their own.
  19. Only when my sanity is more important the result... why pondering too much, as I'm only having a great time.
  20. Thank you for the answer @toulousain Well, hard to decide at this turning point, but again I'll take my chance and say the answer is A: Rotterdam
  21. @toulousain could you help me with this one, please? Merci beaucoup.
  22. Had not have used it before, the 50-50 lifeline would have been very useful. The only one I discarded right away is Helsinki, as I don't recall the Finns being too keen to gamble. Now Brugge I've heard is beautiful, but probably too small and random for such event. So, it will be between Rotterdam & Geneva... I'm inclined to say the Dutch city wins, but I'll have to ask an expert to clear any doubts. Which one of them remains online @Quasit
