  4. I kind of feel sorry for him - he was absolutely desperate to do Eurovision and apparently lobbied pretty hard to get the nod last year in Liverpool.
  5. And yet she could still end up missing out on a place in the Olympic team given the strength we have in the event.
  6. It'll be blamed on Brexit, but the truth is it was a god awful song with god awful staging so it got the points that it deserved. On the upside for fellow Brits, that poor performance should mean that we are saved the prospect of Olly Alexander being the main act at the BBC New Year's Eve concert.
  7. To be honest wouldn't be great loss for Europe if were to withdraw - a friend who saw the performance in the semi-final described it as "watching a lewd act in a grotty public toilet"
  8. Totally agree on Brownlee - there just isn't a strong enough argument to take him in my opinion. He wasn't going to be in contention in the individual event, but equally I don't think he would be willing to play the part of domestique for Alex Yee if it was necessary whereas I think Stapely would be willing and able to fulfill that role. It's disappointing that it doesn't look like he is due to compete again before the end of the qualifying window though.
  9. Start lists for Jamaica Invitational are finally up. Some decent line ups. Events - JAMAICA ATHLETICS INVITATIONAL MEET - May 11, 2024 | AthleticLIVE
  10. So, Brownlee finishes Yokohama in an underwhelming 38th place. GB definitely won't be getting a 3rd men's quota and the selection for the 2nd spot in the team is going to be interesting - especially if the rumours about Izzard being injured are correct.
  11. ETU European Senior Championship - Belgrade Day 2 Results Men's -58Kg: 1.) Vito Del'Aquila 2.) Lev Korneev 3.) Gashim Magomedov 3.) Adrian Vincente Yunta Men''s -87Kg: 1.) Enbiya Taha Bicer 2.) Richard Andre Ordemann 3.) Vasilieos Tholiotis 3.) Artem Harbar Women's -53Kg: 1.) Tatiana Minina 2.) Zeynep Taskin 3.) Andrea Bokan 3.) Ada Avdagic Women's +73Kg: 1.) Lorena Brandl 2.) Nafia Kus Aydin 3.) Kristina Adebaio 3.) Rebecca McGowan
  12. Gymnast, Georgia Godwin to miss Paris after sustaining Achillies injury in training this week.
  13. Possibly because the discus isn't a DL event this year whereas the long jump is.
  14. Sandi Morris finishes down in 6th for women's pole vault. Molly Caudery the only athlete with a clean card up to 4.73
  15. Jamaica Athletics Invitational secures title for meeting with most incompetent organisation - competition gets underway tomorrow and they still haven't released the start lists despite being constant bragging about all the big names that they have signed up.
  16. Lawrence Okoye goes out to 64.95m in 4th round of Doha Diamond League - well shy of the OQS, but 5cm longer than the UKA standard for an accepted WA invite.
  17. Men's Team Semifinals: (1) v (4) (3) v (2) Women's Semifinals: (1) v (4) (3) v (2)
  18. women completely outclassed by in the quarterfinal. They only scored three 10s out of possible 18 compared to France who managed ten 10s. Not sure who the 3rd archer was in the shooting order, but they had two 7s and a 6. That's never going to cut it in a team competition.
  19. Women's Quarterfinals: (1) v (8) (5) v (4) (3) v (6) (7) v (2)
  20. Think it is safe to say that Bianca Cook's Olympic ambitions are over after a defeat in the quartefinals. Rebecca McGowan progresses through to semifinals after a hard fought win over 5th seed Solene Avoulette.
  21. Men's Team Quarterfinals: (1) v (8) (12) v (4) (3) v (6) (7) v (2)
  22. Haven't seen anything for live results but it looks like the early rounds are being streamed live on YouTube and the finals are being broadcast on EurovisionSport: 2024 European Senior Championships: How to Watch the second day! – Europe Taekwondo
  23. The battle of Britain's heavyweights is under way at the European Championships. Bianca Cook, now representing is the second seed whilst Rebecca McGowan is the 4th seed so they are on opposite sides of the draw. Both have won their opening matches and are through to the quarter finals.
  24. Given how popular archery is in UK I did think that compound archery had a good chance of being included in LA but alas it wasn't to be Wonder if she could be persuaded to switch to recurve before then
