  4. A very promising Australian breaststroker, Sienna Toohey, almost broke Leisel Jones' 14 year old age record (1:08.30) in the 100 breast (long course) earlier today clocking 1:08.39. Australia has been struggling to find a breaststroker that can consistently compete with the world's best since Jones left her prime more than a decade ago and Toohey is looking very promising and she's more sprint oriented than Jones was.

  19. Or if the Dutch national team has a good coach. In the women's teamsprint competition The Netherlands' performance was really bad due to a mistake by our coach. The Dutch men on the other hand performed well. Congrats to Canada to win the men's teamsprint as well by 0.002

  23. Since nobody mentioned it yet, I must say that 47.53 from Pan Zhanle was pretty disappointing after his world record relay leadoff on night one. Some swimswam users were saying that it's because of all the big waves generated from the other swimmers slowing him down. Either way, the 100m freestyle in Paris could be incredible. You could potentially have a final of Pan, Popovici, Chalmers, Dressel, Alexy, Grousset, Richards and Miressi.

  25. Don't think any of the action we've seen this week will have all that much relevance when it comes to Paris. If the guys aren't hitting the target times when we get to the British Champs in April then may have to reconsider the medal prospects but from what I've seen so far, the majority of the GB swimmers are producing faster times than they were at the same time last year which can only be viewed as a positive sign for the rest of the year.

  26. Great nights for Netherlands and China Steenbergen and Schouten with gold medals and with massive PBs. Thought Corbeau would also get gold but that was a monster last 50m by Dong to take gold. And that was an amazing end to the relay. Very fun to watch and a very enjoyable night of swimming overall.

  44. Well Drakou got 5th, it seems to be our favourite position in Doha, so maybe 4th is for Canada what 5th is for Greece Siskos was 1st overall in the heats with a new NR, then 6th in the semifinal so the goal of reaching a final has been achieved. A medal seems unlikely but it would be nice for him to at least get a new NR in the final. Our women's 4 x 200 relay got 17th place with a not so great time, but it was still a new NR (barely). The girls said they expected more but that it was still a good experience for them.
