  4. @MHSN FIE have fixed that men's Sabre now actually has 3 more Team competitions in the OQP: Tbilisi (11/02/2024), Padua (3/3/2024) and Budapest (24/3/2024) on the other hand, it's still uclear why also the women's Team Foil has 3 more events in early 2024, when Tomorrow the 3rd OQT is already scheduled (most likely, the tournament in on April 21st, 2024 won't count towards the Olympic Qualification, but nobody has said/written anything about it)

  8. Isn't that what makes things like this fun though? Like TISC, it's fun to realize tons of people actually experience music (or sports, in this case) in many entirely different ways than we do ourselves.

Good list, I’d add Markus Rehm (athletics- men’s T64 long jump), Morteza Mehrzadselakjani (men’s sitting volleyball), and Veronika Aigner (women’s visually impaired alpine skiing)

  10. If I remember correctly, we set our alarms to watch Aline's races in those championships Irrelevant yet fun fact: next month we'll be keeping some of her equipment safe in our garage while they're off to compete in Slovenia, so they don't need to haul everything everywhere

  13. I know para winter sports are often not exactly the most competitive, because of the often rather small fields of participants, but...Aline Rocha really should be on the list of suggestions as well, I'd say. World champion in para-cross-country skiing plus two bronze medals...for Brazil, of all places. I'd have said the same if she was Chilean by the way A truly 'exotic' athlete (it's not like she actually lives and trains in North America or Europe or something) winning several winter sports world championships medals, including a first-ever gold....that is something special.

  14. And thanks for the annual reminder that next year I am REALLY going to write down the cool and inspiring and impressive things and performances I see in sports.....just like in the previous 10 years I forgot it entirely, which will make it insanely hard to remember...well, basically just what actually happened

  30. Adam Hagara the first figure skater in the Grand Prix finals (Juniors) completed his routines and finished in historic 3rd place. I know it means nothing obviously in a worldwide stage, but this 3rd place is still just something epochal for our dying figure skating Very well done Adam! Way to go !

  31. The events with only or eligible are still good, they met the minimum standard at the 2023 World Championships. Obviously the events with no eligible nations will be reallocated. For the ILCA 7 only one quota will be awarded (assuming World Sailing does change the qualification protocol again)

  32. Reading the threads on Swimswam the concensus seems to be that Ceccon has broken the breaststroke rules repeatedly at this meet. Have no idea if this has been the case in previous events and don't pretend to know whether they are correct or not although I would say that they are mostly longstanding contributors to the publication and do seem to know their swimming.

  35. There are so many worthy candidates for men's and women's teams that I don't think any mixed team would have enough votes to compete if we had a single category, making the merge kind of pointless. So, if we can't have a "mixed" category (not enough contenders), perhaps it would be better to include them in another category as suggested.

  36. only NON-Olympic action Today in Doha and swept both the women's -64kg and the men's -81kg classes in the women's -64kg, the 20-year-old lifter Ri Suk broke seven junior world records in five good lifts. When she made 146kg on her final attempt, she also bettered the senior C&J world record set 4 years ago by Deng Wei, the Chinese star who won Olympic gold and 5 world titles before retiring in 2020. Her 264kg Total is only 2kg shy of Deng's WR. Silver also went to thanks to Rim Um Sim, who lifted 113-141-254 kg. Meanwhile Ruth Ayodele won the Bronze medal with 98-120-218 kg. in the men's -81kg, Ri Chong Song and Erwin Rahmat Abdullah had an epic fight, but at the end the man from missed the 214kg lift that would have given him the gold medal and a new C&J world record also in this weight class. Finally, Ri won the gold medal with 374kg Total ahead of Abdullah with 362kg. Both these scores are a lot better than Oscar Reyes' winning effort at the last world championships back in September. Today's bronze medal went to Gaygysyz Torayev with a modest Total of 338kg.

  38. I'm super impressed by Caspar Corbeau this tournament, with a 100m breaststroke bronze and now 200m breaststroke gold he has really stepped up to the elite level. I'm excited to see how Kamminga Corbeau and Tes Schouten keep developing as a training group to compete for the medals in Paris! Meanwhile Toussaint is still a force to be reckoned with in the specific context of backstroke in a European short course tournament.

  39. I'd throw in Ezra Frech as well. He broke the T63 High Jump WR and won the world title this year. He has the potential to become one of the para athletes whose fame transcends the Paralympic Movement. Definitely a name to keep track of heading into Paris 2024.

They follow that up with a dominant win over Samoa (33-7) to move to 2-0 after losing 24-0 to them earlier in the week. As a reminder, this team finished dead last at the HSBC Dubai Rugby Sevens Series (although they played better than their placement suggested)

  47. Still a couple of years to go, but why not. For my predictions, I’ll also be adding some lesser known names (mainly juniors) that have shown success before but have yet to translate it to the WC circuit. First though, I’m going to complete my Paris 2024 predictions (Day 15/16 medalists, medal summary by event, and a list of all projected medals by NOC.
