Yes. Chen He from China seized the single quota of Finn in the Asian qualification.

Quotas given to Sailing are just too many. Not more than 20 boats in each event, while two person dingy should get 12-14 quotas at most. This along with some rowing events like the eights are not allowing newer sports to be played.

Eights were huge back in the day, and are the pinnacle of the sport. Cutting that event would be like cutting the heart rowing. Sailing gets enough quotas in my opinion.

    • Kristian Gkolomeev (swimming)   He specialised in the men's 50 freestyle, was 5th in both Tokyo and Paris, won a world silver in 2019 and many European medals including gold last year.   He went to the Olympics 4 times. He is still only 31 years old but hinted at Paris being the end for him so I guess it should not be surprising, though he is still in his top form and given how close he was to winning an Olympic medal the last two times, I was hoping he would try again in 2028...
    • People are judging her but the truth is she has no points to defend after Wimbledon. She only played the Olympics where she lost in the third round and got injured, then withdrew from the North American swing (including two 1000s) except she tried to play the US Open and retired in her first round match, then missed the rest of the season (another two 1000s plus Guadalajara which was her best tournament regardless of it being the WTA Finals, 1000, or 500 as it is now).   She could've extended her injury break to be exactly 6 months as many players do to get a protected ranking, but she came back and risked missing big tournaments and having to play qualifying possibly. If anything she should be applauded for that.   It looks like she'll have to play qualifying in Rome and possibly Wimbledon for example, which she wouldn't have had to do if she abused the protected ranking system as many others do.   EDIT-Also she was still in the top 10 during both the Olympics and the US Open, so people writing that her ranking was already dropping are incorrect!
    • Again  france they voted this law : if you fart into the bus or train you will pay 50€ , they even created Police detectors of farts
    • Different what the UK got on TNT where Steve Cram (The voice of Athletics on the BBC for the last 25 years) took part in the praising of the Atmosphere (Which sounded ridiculous as it wasn’t very good).   Some of the races were ok but it was so flat. The hurdles are a big flaw because 1 hurdle and 1 flat race is not a mixing of different categories and skills in the way the other events can be. 3000 and 5000m  be too similar   as well I think.    I don’t get why they started in Kingston. Anyone could tell it would struggle for attendance there more than in the USA.    Also I’m surprised Johnson invited Naser with her ban.

    • Ah yeah, Dutch commentator's closing words: "Let's hope the few people who were on the grandstands enjoyed it and will bring some friends tomorrow"
    • Same here, Eurosport/HBO had one of the two usual Dutch athletics commentators (who is also an athlete manager I believe, so someone who knows what he's talking about luckily ).
    • Just finished watching. Let's see if they manage to improve the format for next time, this was arguably the biggest flop I've seen in terms of athletics events....I don't mean the races themselves, the few events that were there were fine, but man this was mostly a waiting game. Glad HBO has it here, so it was easy to skip through the many, many, many minutes of nothing. This was sort of like an undressed Diamond League evening.   If they do this within one hour instead of two and also create a Grand Slam Field, who knows, it may become more interesting.
    • Not so big difference to the Diamond league, except DL has the field events to show during the breaks between races but DL also give the running to much tv time when if they at least have the field events. Maybe DL even more can focus on the field events now that GST has the running. also what is the point of putting together for example 400m and 400 hurdles in the same category🤔
    • I agree, it was a decent event, but nothing more than that.
