:RUS members of quadruple sculls squad Nikita Morgachov and Pavel Sorin tested positive for Meldonium during the June training camp. Not sure what that means for Russia's crew. Probably just replace both member by someone else?

I don't think so. These late doping offenses (after the entries deadline), usually result with their nations not being allowed to name substitutes. Sort of a punishment for entering dopers to begin with.

People still test positive for meldonium? What year is this?

Probably means they are still widely using it out of competition... Yay...

Lithuanian women's double just replaced one of their rowers, but in 2016 Russia had to forfeit some rowing quotas. I guess we will see what happens.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
