the hype was high...but the bout was just unbelievable...

the match of the century...

I feel so sorry for Maruyama...losing a match like this is more than a heartbreaker...but I'm happy that the eventual winner is Abe, since Manuel Lombardo has shown he has more chances to beat him than Maruyama...:p

Earlier Sanne van Dijke was picked as the Dutch representative in the -70kg category, after her European title. Kim Polling went to the courts, as is the unfortunate tradition in Dutch judo, and yesterday heard that she will not be awared the ticket, it remains with Van Dijke.

Too bad Polling has been acting as such an incredibly sore loser, Van Dijke was better when it mattered most, end of story. Polling's fans sort of disagree and are spamming social media with bullshit about how Van Dijke is an 'unknown' and such. Sure, she's less famous (although let's face it, judo is small and most people don't really know Polling neither), but she did win her second European title this year and got two silvers in between - three straight finals. She's not an obscure athlete.

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Have you already started looking for the hundreds of commemorative 2 euro coins? There are loads of them, including sports-themed ones.
    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
