a bit off topic but did any of those wild carders ended up winning an Olympic medal ? (I mean the same year not in the future)

Well, there is case of :BEL Lionel Cox, who qualified by universality, and then performed out of his skin to earn silver...

Wasn't that just a reallocation?

I am unashamed, at getting nothing done.

I'd rather count it under universality, as those spots were only awarded to unqualified NOCs, who then chose the specitic athlete at their own discretion. Very similar to the system used in athletics/swimming (pre-Tokyo).

Wait, gymnastics? Pakistan has not sent gymnasts to any of the World Championships in recent years!

The only time I've even heard about a Pakistani gymnast was at the Southeast Asian Championships in the mid 2000s.

Not off the top of my head... Usually if you are good enough to medal, you are good enough to qualify normally.

The most likely sport for this to happen would be taekwondo (and karate if it ever returns) due to the low number of overall quotas.
