The tournament could possible be cancelled, according to this article (in Spanish)

CONCACAF, Mexico's football federation and the local government are still monitoring the situation.

That seems a little unnecessary. I thought there was not specifically a maximum age, but a 'minimum day of birth'. Meaning that people eligible this year would be eligible even if they postponed it to 2022.

I think it was more to clarify that people born in 1997 would still be eligible to compete.

This.  Too many nations have already qualified, so probably not fair to them if some of those players would no longer be eligible because of the postponement.

Yes, that's what I meant. That was already clear for people reading the rules I believe (since "You have to be born after *insertdate*" is clear enough), but it is indeed better to make it clear for the general public as well.

    • Obviously, like every four years, the usual media circus has kicked off, with Italian politics and the government demanding the FIGC president’s head on a spike. Meanwhile, since the president is also an idiot, he doubled down, saying that football players are the only professionals and that other sports survive on government money. And so, the little theater begins, with the big stars of other sports launching a media storm (rightly so) to insult overpaid football players who can’t even achieve the minimum results. (https://www.ansa.it/sito/notizie/flash/2026/04/01/processo-allitalia-laccusa-di-irma-testa-a-gravinaveri-professionisti-siamo-noi_64c726d6-ad2c-43ff-9679-847b49ac3914.html) A national tragedy, once again. For the third time in a row.
    • They traveled 3 days to go in Mexico and still they qualifed to WC, unbelievable.
    • Agree. I remember when they beat Argentina, 6-1, in La Paz some years ago.
    • Without altitude, this Bolivian team is nothing.
    • Iraaaaaaaq   find transportation was complicated without plane , they even claimed postponing the date    finally they did it
    • in Paris we got 40 medals and 12 golds and we had disappointing campaigns in quite a few disciplines we should have got the 15/50 already 2 years ago and we're on the raising curve in a few sports tbh, as it is right now, that 20/50 target is definitely realistic, maybe a bit optimistic, but realistic
    • there's always the chance to change that just take 5-7% of the Superenalotto prize money and you have fixed the problem (and coni gets more money than ever)

    • I think definately with 48 teams it is not too many with 16.   however I can accept that Swedens route was not deserved. The problem (or good for Sweden)  is that they award teams in Europa league C division. Iof we did not fail in the B division we would probably not have won a playoff spot from B league. Maybe a Genius move from our former national coach😂
