This will be the first time since I follow games that we will go with nothing but outside chances. Very grim looking. It's also telling that it's pretty much the same people that had chances 5 years ago, only that older and in decline. We haven't been able to develop a single new world class athlete. Even Chile has bigger chances than us, embarassing.

Usually it takes an embarrassing result to do something....so here is hoping the future is bright.

I also never understood how Argentina does well in a lot of team sports but the success is less in individual. Is funding targeted at team sports?

Misha Romanchuk (800+1500) is strong athlete. He deserved minimum 1 medal in 800 or 1500 freestyle

Not sure what your comment has to do with my comment?

1) In sports it doesn’t matter what you deserve.

2) He is far from a lock to medal in either event, so I didn’t include him.

3) He certainly is a medal contender in both events.

In the Women's 200m Breaststroke add South Africa's Tatjana Schoenmaker. She just posted a 2:20 at their Olympic Trials and is a current world championship medalist too. She could well win the gold there and a grab another medal in the 100m.
