So the French Federation decided not to invite our best jumpers, whom, I guess, were given an invite from EA (R.Diallo 6th in the wTJ, H.Kpatcha 8th in the wLJ, JB Bertrand 10th in the mLJ) ... at least Celia Perron is now in for the pentathlon (Henriette Jaeger is out due to Covid), well deserved after she was "robbed" her spot by some obscure host-nation quota :mumble:

So 26 athletes, very limited roster, what a shame. Paris is 3 years from now and they're still reluctant to send young guns showing great promises. Those who make it to Poland have good chances to deliver though ...

Is that something new?
I‘m also very disappointed that Leduc get no place. She was really close the the French limit and is still in the TOP 20 in Europe and has to potential to make it even through to the final.
Also surprised that Zahi is in the Team, after her injury in Karlsruhe.

Not easy to keep up with the policy. They were very harsh and then started to open the team to newcomers but now they close it again ... I mean EIC is not the most important target of the year, what is the point here ?

This season the European Indoors are very important for qualification for the olympics. They bring more points than a normal competition outdoor, so it would be hopeful to reach a good place here, if you not the limit from WA.

Yeah, forgot about that too

Even worse then, athletes that could obtain a good result and extremly valuable points for the world ranking are denied a participation ...

Sadly Konrad Bukowiecki and Ewa Swoboda will not take part in starting tomorrow IEC, Bukowiecki due to foot injury which he gets yesterday and defending champion Swoboda due to positive covid-19 test, and yet two days ago her test was negative...

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
