Cross-Country Skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Recommended Posts

Jonna our best distance skiier :yikes: she made a Stina Nilsson except no one took the wrong course in front of her like Stadlober in 2018.

maybe she can be a contender for the overall cup next year:mumble:

The biggest drama during this race was Johaug trying and failing to wave the :NOR flag.

That was a foolish move in retrospect; could easily have become No 1 in the “Most spectacular Olympic Failures” highlights reel.

Did anyone else notice Rosie Brenan taking the wrong course today and then coming back

Early in the race? Because it wasn't her who did so at the finish :p

Finally some luck for Kerttu.  She could have finished with a lost gold (by 0.4), and three lost bronzes in sprint finishes...

52nd place for Malec is her best ever at the Olympics. Beating a couple of 53rd places. :hatoff:

Meanwhile, one of the greatest mysteries of the whole qualification process is how Kusmuk managed to get under 100 FIS points (to be allowed to start today)??

Kusmuk got those points in Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia. We know about the Serbian races, I would be rather....unsurprised if the same goes for the races in the other countries there :p

Hey, if she wanted a place in one of the hardest races in history she’s welcome to it!

Remi Lindholm of Finland finished the 28.4k yesterday with a frozen penis. Yikes. Luckily the feeling came back after treatment with warm towels and such.

Spoiler

Same thing happened to him in the Ruka World Cup, he might want to look for a different brand of clothes.

Tonight, US TV, in the taped replay of the Closing Ceremony, shows the W 30k medal ceremony, but then cuts out the M 50/30 K ceremony.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
