Anyone know what is reason that tomorrow in relay men's will run as first instead womens as is it was in all previous races? :mumble:

I think they always turn around at WCH, just so they make it different, I guess. ?

Also W legs will be also 7.5km

...good job IBU, a certain Bach will be happy

So a penalty loop for the women will be much less influential than the usual. Always great to have something untested at big events. :p

He won't be, this race still won't be enough youthful and urban, in addition we still have equal number of men's and women's, that is scandal!

It’s a relay, so the penalty loop has basically no influence anyway :p

Will Totallympians receive warnings for using the R word instead of RBF and such? :p

I’m assuming RBF is the Russian Biathlon Federation (I thought they were the RBU)? RBF means something a little different in the US (or in California at least) :p

It was about time they race the same distance as men.

Well, I would disagree. Biathlon is about skiing/shooting combo.

Penalty loops are flat, so relatively speaking, women do not lose as much time to men compared to downhills and especially climbs.

So unless penalty loops are made bigger for women, skiing will become (even) more important than shooting.

Aside from being inconvenient, using different penalty loops will again bring up the distance inequality, so there is no reason to change it.

As for the individual, 1 min of penalty can be made up considerably more easily in a 55 min-race than in a 45 min-race.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
