Very sad, he led Greece and Greek teams to many European titles! He is 39 years old so it's not surprising. He wanted to retire after Tokyo but unfortunately he got injured so he was going to miss it anyways and decided to retire from now I guess.

 

He will be missed! I thank him for all of the memories he gave us.

Timea Bacsinszky (tennis) announced her retirement on IG.

This was a couple days ago. It was already known that Tokyo was the last tournament ever for Paula Pareto and she confirmed her retirement. In my opinion, the best  athlete in an individual sport in this century. This was the welcome in the olympic village from fellow athletes.

 Joanna Łochowska (weightlifting) officialy finished her career after 10th place in Tokyo.

 

Also todays race was last race in career for Maja Włoszczowska (MTB Cycling).

 

Few more retirements of Polish athletes will come in following days/weeks.
