NearPup 3,045 Posted July 18, 2018 #72 Share Posted July 18, 2018 (edited) Fairly unhappy with the changes. The obsession with the mixed team events is getting a bit much. Monobob: WTF. Never been runnat the senior level, even as a test event. Four women in 2026 would have been better. Ski Big Air: a no brainer IMO. I know big air isn’t popular here, and I honestly don’t love it either, but if you’re going to have snowboard big air you should have ski big air, too. It doesn’t require a new venue (already exists for Snowboarding) and the athletes are already there for Slopestyle anyway. Mixed Ski Jumping: would have been better to add a women’s large hill event IMO, along with a women’s team event for 2026. Mixed Short Track: ...this event does not exist yet. Mixed Aerials: was resigned to this because the Olympics are in China. It’s a really bad event IMO. Mixed Snowboardcross: this makes no sense as a team event. Due to the nature of the event it should be a men’s and a women’s event. It doesn’t even have to increase the athlete quota. intoronto 5,638 Posted July 18, 2018 #73 Share Posted July 18, 2018 (edited) My suggestion for quota reduction in skating: Speed skating: Reduce quota by 18. Limit number of athletes per nation to 16 would save quotas... Figure skating: Reduce Pairs to 18, Ice dance to 22. -8 Short track: This is impossible to reduce without compromising the number of ppl per heat. Agreed, which is why in my opinion the better option would have been just to get rid of the whole thing I don't know how the qualify of women's freestyle skiing big air is compared to the snowboarding version, but the level of the women's snowboarding big air in Pyeongchang was....awful. In 90% of the jumps just nothing happened apart from a small twist or something. .

Why reduce them that strongly in speed skating, but not in, say, alpine skiing or cross-country skiing? .
heywoodu 15,135 Posted July 18, 2018 #76 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Another option would be to remove ice hockey, that would save a true boatload of quotas. Jur, dcro and Olympian1010 2 1 .

Skiing got hit the hardest with -41 quotas. Snowboarding hit the hardest. Drop of 44 total, while ski jump gained along with freestyle

intoronto 5,638 Posted July 18, 2018 #80 Share Posted July 18, 2018 The IOC is fuking up the sports program to be polticially correct. What a joke. If you need more events for women, then add them but dont subtract from the men's side. heywoodu
