Any American user know Why they not incline or open the US flag like all others during the medal ceremony?  Does it have something to do with not bending infront of the British crown or just they have some exception ? because so far I saw almost all medal ceremonies and they always dropped the flags during the anthems, only the USA flag stayed unopened up.

Just out of curiosity, I really want to know the reason :)

Okay, I apparently just found it. https://www.pri.org/stories/2016-08-05/why-wont-team-usa-dip-their-flag-olympic-opening-ceremonies

I say you, it took me the whole week  every medal ceremony, immediately when started the anthem all flags are lowed except the USA one, which stayed up unopened. I couldn´t find the reason, it started to make me mad to not know the reason, so I decided to ask it here and suddenly I found the answer few minutes later. :d

I did see medal ceremonies (even the women's steeple today) but didn't notice this :d

It's so completely stupid  And rather disrespectful to basically all other nations, but well, that's not new from USA who think they're the absolute best in the world

    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
