Wow, Boskovic is playing practically alone. :yikes:

Lazovic joined her

I think it was mistake of coach not to select her in olympic team

Close to 2.7 millions viewers for the final Italy, which tbh doesn't seem that impressive:

well, considering that the game was broadcasted on rai3 (which is a minor channel, with an average share of 6/7% in primetime) and started at 8 p.m. (when our primetime normally starts at 9.15/9.30 p.m.) on a saturday night still in Summer (and that it was available also online on dazn, which has its own decent number of viewers, especially now that they broadcast the serie A football), I think it's a very, very good result...

there's no chance for sports other than football, F1, Valentino Rossi and sometimes the big cycling classics to make big numbers in Italy...

the Olympic Games are always an exception because they grab a lot of occasional viewers that would never watch any other sport on regular basis...

I can't say if tv numbers were good, but with 20,565 spectators in the stadium, the match broke the record for most spectators in a women's indoor volleyball match.

Yes, I've seen that, but apparently it's not true. There is a college volleyball (!) game in the Philippines that attracted more and also a world championship game in Brasil in 1994 like this calm and very rational tweet would like us to reminder.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
