How many places does Moldova already have in men's weightlifting for Rio 2016?

After the disqualification of positive lifters they dropped from 5 to 4 quotas. They lost 2 more quotas based on the decision of IWF so they'll have 2.

So, they have updated the World Championship Rankings ranking with RUS/KAZ/BLR still in it. I am assuming this means that these countries will be participating in Olympics and their ban will start after Olympics. Has IWF clarified anything?

At the bottom of the documents they said it is not finalized due to legal process. This is likely from athletes appealing IWF's decision, but could also mean BLR/KAZ/RUS could be removed.

Thanks for the clarification. Wish IWF was more prompt with finalising the situation. Must be really tough on the lifters.

Apart from these, I can also confirm that Honduras got one of the wild cards (men's -94kg). http://www.diariomas.hn/2016/07/01/christopher-joel-pavon-otro-atleta-mas-que-representara-a-honduras-en-los-olimpicos/

  • 3 weeks later...

Seychelles also got wild card in weightlifting (men's -62kg). And also, Austria apparently got reallocation in weightlifting.

Ok, so :HAI and :MLT got the remaining men's tripartite places. Haiti now has all combat sports + weightlifting.

Meanwhile, looks like Iraq refused women's place, which went to Kyrgyzstan. The weird part is that this 2nd women's wild card that Iraq refused!!

No idea how Austria got that men's quota.
