Hopefully, IOC will not allow that. If you want to compete at the Olympics, get your own NOC. JoshMartini007 2,536 Posted December 7, 2023 #47 Share Posted December 7, 2023 It sets a dangerous precedent for the IOC to allow them to compete under their flag. Places with sports federations would use it to justify including them at the Olympics. The Faroe Islands and Macao have been dying to get included in the games. It also complicates things that they are spread across two nations so you can't compromise with two Canadian or American teams. While Canada and the United States consider them to be their own quasi-nations the rest of the world does not. Kosovo needed about half the world to recognize it before it was let in. It is true that my country has done a LOT of shitty things to indigenous peoples. Therefore, giving them representation in a sport born from their culture at an edition in our nation seems like a positive step forward in reconciliation. I get that it’s a complicated situation, but it’s just annoying to see people immediately shutdown the idea and complain about “North Americans” wanting special privileges when so much of international sport is geared towards appeasing Europeans. intoronto 1 “Sport has the power to change the world.
