No world champs for Conseslus Kipruto :(

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Since Hassan moved to NOP, she got to a completely different level, guess why ...

Impossible to be happy about Wilsons time, she has been caught before, but of course US athletics did absolutely nothing to punish her. WADA needs more power, so that they can hand out real punishments, instead of allowing all national federations to punish according to their own rules.

Niyonsaba and Semenya still should be untouchable, but maybe Wilson can beat Wambui for bronze, dont know whether this would be something to be happy about.

Slovenian SENIOR record of 56.52 by Agata Zupin in the semi (!) of the U20 EC 400h.

Congrats, easy gold tomorrow, probably could have medalled at U23 european championships. There are many events where the medal winners at the U20 european championships could have medalled at the U23 european championships or the U18 world championships, i think they should seperate those competitions more, so that its possible to compete at all of them or at least two of them.

It isn't possible to compete at both the U23 and either the U20 or U18. The U23 is ONLY for athletes who are U23 but are NOT U20 or U18 (or U16!) So only athletes born between 1995 and 1997 inclusive could have competed at this year's U23 EC.

You are (partly) right. Its not allowed to compete at both european championships, but its possible to compete at U20 european championships and U18 world championships. I think those rules are stupid, everyone who is good enough should be allowed to compete. Duplantis, Sukh and Ingebrigtsen all would have won gold at the U23 european championships, probably some other talents too.

Based on its wish to ensure gender equality on the field of play, the IAAF Council has decided to create a new 50km race walk competition for women at the IAAF World Championships London 2017.

Scheduled to start at the same time as the men's event, the women’s 50km race walk in London will have separate results and prize money. The entry standard is 4:30:00 to be achieved by Tuesday 25 July midnight Monaco time.

In order for athletes to be allowed to finish the race in London, they shall be required to start the last two-kilometre lap within the time limit of 4:17:00.

IAAF Member Federations have been advised of the decision along with the qualifying standard.

“IAAF Council’s decision to create a new 50km race walk competition for women with separate results and prize money at the World Championships in London follows the 2016 IAAF Race Walking Team Championships in Rome, where one female athlete from the USA joined her four male teammates,” said IAAF President Sebastian Coe. “There has been equal prize money for men and women at the IAAF World Championships since the introduction of financial rewards in the early 1990s and this decision brings gender quality in terms of competition opportunity too.

“But we must acknowledge this has been a last-minute decision based upon the request of a small group of athletes,” added Coe. “Therefore, to ensure the long-term credibility of the World Championships, we will follow the recommendation of the Race Walking Committee and assess the development of the event to determine whether there are sufficient numbers of athletes and countries legitimately interested.”

    • That is absolutely certain. Any somewhat reasonable politician should be good enough to win against someone like Trump, even with the unfortunate timing (for the Democrats) of having to carry the brunt of the COVID pandemic consequences and so any Republic having a bit of a head start anyway.   But yeah, dreadful performance overall from Harris, who seemed to start quite positively, but then just lowered herself to Trump's level in terms of throwing shit at each other. That was a terribly dumb choice, nobody is going to beat Trump at the insult game, as we have seen.

    • It was never a priority to stop the war but to prolong it to offload the old weapons systems and keep Russia occupied in a conflict. But the West's strategy backfired as it pushed Russia to friendship with China. Many don't realize as Russia and China are actually adversaries even when they shared a common ideology during the Soviet era
