The IAAF World Rankings, which will come into operation in 2018, will drive and shape the global competition system including entry into the World Championships and Olympic Games,” here

I think it will more likely result in the top athletes being around 20th place or something because they'll compete in just enough events to stay in qualifying positions.

Well, too bad that they didn't sign the hosting contact for 2022 WEG. There weren't any other candidates so they only had to sign it...

Ah, that´s really unfortunate. Didn´t knew about it, probably budget troubles with funds or there were any other reason ?

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
