I am quite familiar with aikido as my school is renting the gym for the aikido trainings twice a week and I'm the one to let them in and out.

Right now he is sneakily aiming/hoping to bridge Tokyo 1964 and Tokyo 2020...

Fun fact: Kendo is also what the light saber movements in Star Wars are based on

Obviously the choreography adds a lot of non-Kendo techniques that more closely associated with fencing or wushu, but the the basic movements are all still based in Kendo.

To end my posts about crazy japanese things, i thought about sharing something about weird drinks and sodas they have over there, or about their warm+cold drinks vending machines existing in every corner of any city, but I think I'll share about a drink that, although not japanese, I think was made available only (or mainly) in Japan:

Coca-Cola Clear

No, it's not water;

Yes, it tasted as Coca Cola;

Yes, I probably lost 3 years of life after drinking that bottle, with all the chemicals that drink probably have :lol:

Japan's contribution to science is immense. Not that long ago, a group of Japanese organic chemists invented reactions known as cross-coupling reactions (and improved the already existing ones, giving them greater depth and use) which were revolutionary and made it possible to do synthesis of very complicated molecules - medicines, different farmaceuticals making their production elegant, going faster (meaning fewer steps in order to produce desired molecule) and cheaper. The reaction involved metals like paladium, Pd and some of them a non-metal boron. These reactions enabled connection of such structures in one step only.
Akira Suzuki, Ei-ichi Negishi and Kenkichi Sonogashira will be always remembered. Suzuki and Negishi won Nobel Prize in 2010.
