The German’s second time stepping on the line coincided almost exactly with the baton exchange, there will be a protest for sure :mumble:

It's a good thing in modern athletics that the Jury doesn't miss things like that.

Dissapointed that Kamga missed a medal After throwing 69+ in qualificstion,

even more disspointed on the Swedish association stopping EYOF champion and Europesn U20 leader in 3000m from participating because of a rule that the athletes must choose one junior championship. Good he is only 17 so he Will get new chances Lörstad. And that Ottfalk managed a medal anyway. The latvian on silver position however should be disqualified imo.

but no time to be negative when we just won the Gold in pole vault with a jumper who took the last spot to the final!😃

Massive under-performance by the Italian 4x100 (women’s).

The final exchange was a disaster.

I’m also not convinced at all it was a smart idea to have Doualla run the 1st leg when she recently said she is not comfortable running the bends.

and I'm pretty sure they will put her on the first leg at the world champs, too (if they send her to Tokyo), when it's obvious that she should run the anchor leg (and Dosso the first, looking at the senior relay in perspective)

but from a coach that kept Tortu in the Olympic final, costing us an unbelievable back-to-back, do you expect any different?

coming back to this championship, with Castellani and Valensin so out of shape (or, actually, not having improved as expected since last year), the expectations on the women's sprint relay are below 0...they're so far away from a decent performance, not to mention any chance of medal

Men's 800m.is going to keep the Judges busy for a long time.  At the moment 1-2-3 for :GBR but many questions to answer....

One Brit DQF, now there will be an appeal....DQFed for running on the infield, but on the straight, which is sometimes given, sometimes not....

I think they changed the rule...now if you run in the infield, you're out, even if you do it in the straight and don't have any actual gain

and in the junior competitions rules are applied even more strictly than in the senior's

I agree, I was wondering if perhaps they could argue she had already passed the baton.

But I watched the replay again and I think when she touched the line for the second time, she still held the baton. She passed it between the second and the third time.

Of course, because they are obsessed with the quality of the exchanges.

Which makes total sense, of course (especially if you don't have the strongest line-up), as long as you keep in mind it's a running race where you also have to pass the baton three times, not a baton-passing contest where you also have to run for 400 metres.

Giuseppe Di Sabato and Serena Di Fabio (should be an easy double in the race walking thanks to those 2)

Congratulations for your easy double in the race walking!

it's not my fault if the favourites flop badly

actually, Santacreu won because she walked an unprecedented time, better than Di Fabio's record (and she also improved herself)

so, no regret here

Di Sabato and Coppola, well, that's another story

if they went close to their best times, they would have lapped the Spanish guys, but apparently they weren't even close to their best shape today

just 2 more disappointing performances, like Castellani and Valensin in the girls' 200m (and in the relay) or even Inzoli in the boys' LJ, who should have won the gold medal even if carrying an injury, as his first and second jump were both way beyond 8m, but just millimeters foul (especially the 1st one)

it happens, actually, Italians are well known for going below expectations when it really matters

however, nobody would notice it, as all the social media keyboard lionhearts are fighting the people givong more attention to Doualla's gold rather than Saraceni's, making it the usual racist political fight 😤🤬🤮

Was an exciting race walk, which you can't often say.

As usual, judges very harsh on all the people walking slowly at the back......:mumble:

    • I stand with Ukraine of course, and it’s really horrible hearing about all the things going on with the war, Belarus (and Russia) should definitely be banned from competing because of it, and at the very least certainly not competing under their own flag but… if you’re going to do that for those two surely other countries should be punished as well, I can think of a few that have definitely done things along the same line?
    • The invasion towards Kyiv was started in 2022 from the territory of belarus. Belarussian infrrustructrure is beeing used for drone attacks on Ukraine. Belarus is involved in illegal transfers of stolen Ukrainian children from the occupied territories.
    • I think they can find at least one more venue in the United States.    LA has one venue because that is all they need for a 6-team tournament.
    • So good to finally get a  medal.    C4 here showed absolutely 0% of the cross country today except on You Tube.
    • American Qualification for 28 olympic seems to be given to SF qualified team in America   A2 vs B1(probably US, who is not related to this qualification process) .. A2 is difficult to be in SF A1 vs B2 seems likely to be Puerto Rico vs Mexico . So the winner would go to SF and win the ticekt   Japan vs Venezuela(?) : I think Venezuela also have high chances to win, but the Japan would be >50% in SF.  DR(?) vs Korea : DR could be also the winner (maybe >90%).  This Means that DR and PRorMexico(?) would have the highest chance to be in olympics.

    • Yeah all the new team sports have 6 teams. Squash only will have 16 entries per gender. I think they could've made an exception for baseball though. It's super popular in America. Venue should be packed for a lot of the games, especially for USA and other American nations.    I think it's a miss by the IOC to not have 10-12 teams to ensure that Mexico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and more American nations have a good chance to get in. Those nations have a large population in LA and would fill the venue.

    • This was extremely amazing   There were only few ways that Korea could advance.. and the 7-2 was last one.   Red case (5-0, 6-1, 7-2) was the only way korea wins... green for austrailia, blue for chinese taipei
    • I think the 6-team restriction is to include many new things (lacrosse, flag football, etc...) in the olympics. IOC would not want to expand the total number of players by having too much team in here.
