Alpine Skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026

Here's where the mental toughness of athletes will come into play...can't imagine trying to get back in the game after a pause like that.

Hope the athletes coming up can still put down some good runs together after that. The competition was getting really good before the crash.

Genuinely not sure what I'd hate more, the remains of my knee being absolutely fucked to nothingness or hanging at the end of a rope under a helicopter at that altitude.

The BBC commentator said that the fact she was put in the harness rather than taken on board the helicopter indicates the severity of the injury.

Goggia?

Potentially, yes, but she has been very slow in the gliding sections this year. Also, the turn where Vonn crashed is a big question mark for her, she got it all wrong yesterday.

I think the big issue now is whether the course hold made the course slower or not, because the temperature is well above zero in Cortina.

Honestly it wasn't really a joke. I hope it is not the case, but this might have ruined her knee and leg so badly, and kind of permanently.

The wording implied that to me :dunno: but I'm glad it wasn't :)

She certainly knew she would be ready to compete, she felt ready. But an accident happened, who could have imagined? I hope she's recovers as well as can be expected.
