IWF made a little adjustment to the new weight categories

https://iwf.sport/2025/05/08/update-on-iwf-bodyweight-categories/

we were supposed to have 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 98kg, 110kg, +110kg but now 98kg is being replaced by 94kg

This change is intended to prevent significant gaps between the (soon to be selected) five (5) Olympic Men’s Bodyweight Categories.

to me, this indicates there is a very good chance they pick 65, 79, 94, 110 and +110 for the Olympics.

Still big gaps in the weights with only 5 events.

I'm sure Karlos would have definitely preferred it to stay at 98 kg. While 94 isn't bad, he expected to gain weight in the coming years.

But yeah, the five you mentioned seem the most logical to be selected.

It's a bit tough when you have such a large range of weights. Perhaps you can reduce the top end back down to 102kg, but you'd still have 65, 77, 89, 102, +102 as your events and that's with ignoring that Asia will not like the fact that the lowest weight is so high.

so, we are going to have just 10 starters per weight class on average

that's a shame! unacceptable
