Alpine Skiing FIS World Cup 2024 - 2025

Recommended Posts

It's not Bratheen's best discipline and considering the time he's been out of an official competition, a fourth place is a great result. :yes

It's so cool to watch this sport, of course I'm only watching because Brazil is being represented, but maybe I'll pay more attention to some Winter Olympic sport other than curling and short track.

Cross-country skiing man, I mean, we have a Brazilian Totallympics user who is likely to get a wildcard here or there for the upcoming season and there's a whole fight for the Olympics going on, can't miss that :d

Best World Cup result in history in any Winter Olympic sport, after sixth place in snowboarding in 2014.

I'm almost sure that I remember some Brazilian podium in women's monobob main circuit. Ok, that's wasn't a proper world cup, but still :p

Maybe Nicola Roche Silveira who has had a couple of top 10s in Skeleton.

Anyway, for those who were following this discussion a few weeks ago, :BRA has an excellent chance of first-ever World Cup podiums, possibly even wins, this weekend.  Roche Silveira won and was second in two full-scale rehearsal races last weekend, and has two chances in Pyeonchang on Saturday and Sunday. Then Pinheiro Braathen has another chance in the Levi slalom on Sunday.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
