On what day will your nation win their first medal of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games?

Recommended Posts

It's always interesting to look at the Olympic schedule and forecast when your nation's big medal chances will be. Will they be early in the program, in the final days, or will they be spread out over the course of the 16 days of medal winning action (the dream scenario :d)?

Here is the link to the day-to-day schedule to help with your forecast:

  • When is the first realistic medal chance of the Games for your nation?
  • When do you think your nation will get their first medal and in which event?
  • Is there a bumper day for your nation where you expect more than one or a few medals to come? If so, what day?
  • Is there a day when you expect to have not so much competitors from your nation competing or no chances for medals?

1) Day 15

2) Day 15

3) maybe summer 2036

4) Second week will have a coupe of days without SVK participation. Unusually, this time the majority of our athletes have competition the first week and around middle weekend. Days 11 and 16 are already without our participation (even if day 11 have Boxing semifinals but it is quite brave to not say delusional to believe Jessica will make it so far, that´s almost impossible)

Reminder of SVK schedule, which will be regularly adjusted. (You can see that from Day 10 the Slovak building is going to be an empty ghost place SVK DAY BY DAY SCHEDULE )

  • When is the first realistic medal chance of the Games for your nation? When do you think your nation will get their first medal and in which event?

We had Ellen van Dijk in the women's time trial, but she broke her ankle. We still not know if she's recovered enough to compete, but winning a medal: no. I think we will win the first medal with judo on day 4 (-63 kg, Joanne van Lieshout) or rowing on day 5 (men's quadrupe sculls).

  • Is there a bumper day for your nation where you expect more than one or a few medals to come? If so, what day?

During day 5 till day 8 there are several medal chances (#8) in rowing.

  • Is there a day when you expect to have not so much competitors from your nation competing or no chances for medals?

Day 1 and 2 (and also 3) we have not much competitors and no big medal chances. Day 16 we only have a medal chance when Sifan Hassan decides to run the women's marathon. Between day 4 till day 15 Netherlands can win one or more medals a day.

1) On the first day itself. We are decent medal contenders in the mixed 10m Air rifle team event.

2) I am hoping we open our medal tally by at least 29th of July. By that time 5 out of the 10 rifle and pistol events would be completed and the men's and women's team events of Archery.

3) Considering the fact that around half of the sports (boxing, wrestling, badminton, hockey) where we have medal chances are knockout tournaments, it is weird to say which day a medal is won exactly. But if I had to pinpoint a date it would be Day 13. We have Javelin finals, Mirabai Chanu in women's 49 kg weightlifting, and our best 3 wrestlers (Antim in women's 53 kg, Anshu in women's 57 kg and Aman in men's 57 kg) will have their bouts.

4) I dont see any realistic medal chances on the last day - Day 16.

  • When is the first realistic medal chance of the Games for your nation? Day 2 with the 10km pistol shooting final (Anna Korakaki and Christina Moschi), but it's too random of a sport to expect it, also small chance that day in the men's 400 individual medley with Apostolos Papastamos.

  • When do you think your nation will get their first medal and in which event? Day 5 - Elisavet Teltsidou in judo hopefully

  • Is there a bumper day for your nation where you expect more than one or a few medals to come? If so, what day? Days 7-10, a lot going on, also at the end potentially if we go far in wrestling and team sports.

  • Is there a day when you expect to have not so much competitors from your nation competing or no chances for medals? Day 1 as always, Day 4 too.

I agree if Ellen van Dijk doesn't medal, we will not be winning any medals on day 1.

We have a serious contender on day 2 though with Puck Pieterse on the mountain bike. And on day 3 there is a small chance for Tes Schouten on the 100m breaststroke, but I guess only the 200m is realistically medal chance for her.

And on day 16 there is also the Keirin for Harrie Lavreysen. Never a sure medal in keirin, but he's still a massive contender.

  • When is the first realistic medal chance of the Games for your nation?

Day 1 with Lukas Märtens at the 400 Freestyle and maybe the mixed rifle team event in Shooting.

  • When do you think your nation will get their first medal and in which event?

I really hope Märtens will make this. It has been quite a while since we had such a big chance on day one, even for Gold.

  • Is there a bumper day for your nation where you expect more than one or a few medals to come? If so, what day?

Our chances on August 3rd aren't to bad. Also later during the Games, with the Canoe sprint events.

  • Is there a day when you expect to have not so much competitors from your nation competing or no chances for medals?

I think our chances on day 2 are pretty low.

The pistol sniper championships 🤣

  • When is the first realistic medal chance of the Games for your nation?

Day 1, Skateboarding men's street.

  • When do you think your nation will get their first medal and in which event?

Day 2, Skateboarding women's street.

  • Is there a bumper day for your nation where you expect more than one or a few medals to come? If so, what day?

Day 14 or 15 Brazil should win more than one medal.

  • Is there a day when you expect to have not so much competitors from your nation competing or no chances for medals?

Aside from Skateboarding and maybe Judo, week 1 (days 3 to 7) should be pretty slow for Brazil.

1. Summer McIntosh in the women’s 400m freestyle on Day 1.

2. Same as 1.

3. There’s a bunch.

4. Only day where we have no chance for a medal is Day 7.

    • Update after Matchdays 8 and 9.   Group A:  is almost a lock with 21p, and 7 games 7 wins. Almost impossible for them to not qualify. The battle is in the second place between  (16p) and  (13p).  with 8p is almost out.  and  eliminated.   Group B:  won both of the 2 games so is almost secured with 19p.  is second with 14p, with  (1 more game played) and  with 11p.  is eliminated and  practically too (6p)   Group C:  went 2 out of 2 so they are still first with 16p and one game less than the rest. They played each other in the Matchday 11 of 12. Coming in third behind is  with 11p. ,  and  eliminated.   Group E: Both  and  won both matches so its still the same, Poland first with 24p and Italy second with 21p, which is the best runner-up and also qualifying directly, so is very likely that both teams end up qualifying no matter who finish first and second. , ,  and  eliminated.   Group F: A tie between  18p and  18p. Germany has the goal advantage (+21 to +20), and has to play the three weaker teams, so its more likely to qualify. Coming behind are  with 10p and  with 9p, which are practically eliminated with  and   Group G:  takes the advantage with 12p and one game less.  and  both have 7p, and coming behind are  5p (but one game less) and  with 5p.   Group H:  with the win against  moved to first place with 13p (and one game less), and Turkey stays in second with 11p.  is coming in third with 8p, while  is eliminated and  have 3p and one game less.   Group I: A triple tie between ,  and  with 10p. Belgium have the advantage because they have the best head to head points and one game less. Austria is second in the H2H difference and Denmark is third but with also one game less.  have 6p and  is eliminated.   The next 3 and last matchdays will define the 10 qualified teams and the 8 that will go to the playoffs. Matchdays will be 24-26 September, 28Sep-1Oct and 5-6 October, 2026.
