Peaty was second, 59.34, and goes in Semifinal 2. The freestyle team was second, 3:13.96, and is in the final. McMillan 8th, 1:47.85, and eliminated, while Scott through in second 1:46.09. The Water Polo team lost 15-10 and will face for 11th. To be fair the level of tapering is variable throughout; the chinese, clearly, are on it, the American's not so much. For the Brits, Adam Peaty needed to make a statement for his own confidence - his return to some sort of form will be heartening. This champs however, even more so than the Doha World Athletics, feels like a champs that will be soon forgotten, and in many ways placed in the memory hole - the classic "contractual obligation" album.
