2012 Olympics was a total disaster. So many cases, but of course I remember Khitrov - Ogogo the best. With a level score they gave victory to Ogogo. But after that found out that Olympic website showed not only the total score, but also points awarded by every single judge. And no one judhe gave more points to Ogogo but - onlly level scores or in favour of Khitrov. How did they solved it? They simply hid that information at the website!!!

As for me, if 99% of the times fans from any country can claim a robbery - is the best evidence of awful scoring system and work of judges )

I remember that Seoul 1988 was also a huge scandal. Then Roy Jones Jr. lost to the host representative in the final after the scandalous verdict.

As an example of how difficult judging is. Theres 5 judges here and not one of them are the same for all 3 rounds.

I hope they ditch 10-9 as soon as possible

Diego Lenzi won against the Spaniard in 92 kg. Italy will have at least 2 QO fights on Monday. Tonight I'm still counting on Carini and Charaabi to win. I think that 2 QO for Italy is realistic here.

You make me remember Maximus Decimus Meridius with "spaniard".

That one was a biggie.  One judge from Morrocco was quoted in the US magazine Sports Illustrated saying that Jones won easily, but that he put down Park Si-hun as the winner because he thought a 5-0 decision would have embarrassed the host country.

Never heard in my life about boxing judges which would favour a Slovak boxer over USA (especially a former world champion and kinda USA poster boy.)

+ I watched the bout life on Olympic Channel, and you know, when even both their announcers (usually USA biased) called it fair call I am quite surprised to read this from you. but, Sure, ok, it is your oppinion and you are entitled to have it.

Bandi won both first 2 rounds fairly (again both OC commentators admitted it), in the last Gonzalez was clearly much much better but it came too late for him and Bandi knew after the 2 rounds he do not need to risk anymore and at the end he did the job and kept his win.

Only Gonzalez is here to blame for being extremely passive in both first rounds and underestimated Bandi, definitely not the judges, which in opposite were surprisingly pretty fair and not "fall" under the name of the favorite and stronger/more important country.

Yeah ok, I rewatched this fight. Still think Gonzalez probably deserved to win but it was very close and wasn't clearly wrong.

To be clear my macro take on the judging throughout qualifying is that (other than host country bias which has existed at every boxing tournament ever) the judging has been remarkably unbiased. It just hasn't been very good.

On the commentary thing I don't think yer man is that good a judge of boxing fights. I have watched many a fight where it feels he seems to be commentating on an entirely different fight to what I'm watching. To be fair I have thought Nicola Adams has been fairly insightful, the other three of them I'm not so sure about.

Lastly my own judging abilities aren't very good, I mentioned the Csemez Gonzalez fight because I had been surprised by the decision and then I had also seen others elsewhere be surprised by the decision. It is completely fair to disregard my opinion on judging decisions in specific fights.

    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites
