why not? internal requirements or he lost some sort of national trial?

Not sure on the factors, but if I had to guess, I’d think that the German table tennis federation decided their entries in men’s singles based off the World Rankings, and their 3rd player based off team event pedigree. Boll, who will only compete in the team event was actually ranked 27th, behind Franziska in 16th, but since he’s known to perform well during the team event that really helps Germany’s medal chances. IMO if it were up to me I would’ve picked Franziska instead of Ovtcharov for singles, even if he’s the reigning Olympic bronze medalist. He hasn’t been in the greatest of form so far this year.

I assume this is one of the biggest surprises ever in this sport :d

World #1 :CHN Wang Chuqin lost to 14 years old :IRI Benyamin Faraji at the Asian Championships today. :hyper::yikes: China still survived the team match 3-1

(OK I know Wang is not playing well recently but still)

ps: it's unbelievable but Iran actually had a chance to do the impossible and beat China, Noshad was competitive in both of his matches against Lin Shidong and Wang Chuqin.

Dramatic men´s quarter finals in european championship. Felix Lebrun elimnated after dominating first 2 sets. Lost 2 sets, and then a 3rd after having a match point in 6th set. And Duda won the final set 11-6.

In the all-swede quarter final Möregårdh dominated first two, before Källberg dominated the next 2, the 6th set went to 16 points before Möregårdh finally won. But they both play together tomorrow in the doubles final.
