Oh, wow. Chinese athletes are getting some uber inflated points on their 70 seconds long downhills. :d

To follow up on these Chinese downhillers, it appears it all started last year...

Basically, a couple of Austrian and Italian skiers arrived to China with an aim of lowering FIS points? It all seems like a scheme a la Project Bogota.  But this is China, so nobody will get punished, of course.

Ted Ligety announces his retirement.  Will ski his last races in Cortina, then hang up his boots.

Great skier, but maybe one of those guys that went a couple of years too long.

all Wintersport World Cup events scheduled for the next weeks in Norway have been cancelled, from Alpine to Cross-Country Skiing, from Ski-Jumping to Nordic Combined...

and even if there's not official news yet, also Biathlon will be axed soon...

hopefully, a few of them will be rescheduled elsewhere, but I fear many others won't...

We can have the SG in Bansko, but FIS will probably want a new full host for that weekend. Time for Wengen to get back the races they cancelled.

Little article about a Jamaican chasing qualification in Alpine Skiing: https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2021/02/16/benjamin-alexander-jamaica-skier

Don’t know what his FIS Points are, but it doesn’t sound like he’s close yet.

Competition starts today. There will be a livestream on the official website. Sadly there will only be 3 competitions for each gender (Super G, slalom, giant slalom). Surprisingly GB (on the men’s side) and Croatia (on the women’s side) could win some medals.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
