That’s a heartbreaking loss :(

:CAN was 11-9 up, had multiple chances for scores when the :USA was up 12-11 and ended up converting on one of them… but still lost.

Still winless against them in over 24 years :(

Props to Dionne though, that play where she swiped the disc away from Finney was insane, thought that was a guaranteed goal and the win for the US but she kept them in it for just a little bit longer. :hyper:

Sorry I meant 12-11, not 14-13.

Oh fuck, yeah I saw that, sorry. I should have worded it differently, I meant in terms of things I actually saw. Obviously nothing is going to go deeper than that..

Commentator with the “sensational save from Auger-Simmard” when in fact it was indeed Dionne who swiped the disc away and not Auger-Simmard :p (I thought so when watching the play, but ended up second guessing after the commentators said that, when will I ever learn…)

And shockingly enough, it’s not the English commentator lady, it’s a guy this time, really kind of him to do that so she’s not the only one on the “Chengdu 2025’s commentating mistakes” compilation :p @heywoodu

Hard for casuals to follow/understand the game when you’re getting the names wrong :p

    • need to work on the celebrations... or just drop them?   Btw, these jerseys suck and I remember Zambia playing in all white with red numbers. At least they have orange on national flag but still...
    • British Columbia in general and Vancouver in particular are awesome and it’s great more people got to discover it thanks to Vancouver 2010.
    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?
    • Other winners at the PanAm Sports Awards Junior 2025
    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
